I think pocket pair put Craftopia on the sideburner because somebody in that studio knew what they had. This game is going to be a cultural phenomenon, breaking away from the tried and true Pokemon monster collecting for what seems like the first REAL contender for the genre. I could care less if they never updated craftopia again, and instead put all their joy, passion, and love into this game.

This looks like what would happen if the pokemon world really existed: People eating them, enslaving them for making stuff they need as well as weapons. Using them for their own cause, with only little regards for their wellbeing, while shaping nature away from the state the pokemon evolved to be in. I just realize how much of an utopia the original pokemon world is, while writing this 🤔

@@7sonicmario Just loads of parallels to real life :D But on the other side pokemon is als nearly the same, they just hide it. I mean think about X-Attack and X-Defense. Those are just drugs for pokemon. Which are animals with superpowers you put in a fighting ring, making them hurt each other. On the other side Palworld really hones in on this side of their worldbuilding and even the Pal description show how fckd up everything is and they know it. I really respect that

Both played all their cards too early, but also both fundamentally just, cant compete with pokemon really? Temtem almost can, but iirc its an mmo, as opposed to a singleplayer rpg. Palworld definately cant, its every mediocre survival game out there, but now theres Great Value versions of pokemon designs thrown on. Its FUN, but even ignoring that its a beta, it has sone fundamental flaws keeping it out of direct competition

Personally think it looks great and hope it does well, but the turn based gameplay and competitive scene is what keeps me into Pokemon and got me back in, similar to the new final fantasy direction of action rpg gameplay, but like said this will hopefully bring a different fun experience and should for its own sake not be compared with Pokemon or even tem tem because it’s a completely different game direction and style with similar audience, feel like that’s what hurt temtem as well instead of trying to just run off its own merit

have played about 50 hours of palworld so far (have beta access on steam) and honestly the game is much better than you would expect. has some issues like a huge amount of copy and pasted pals just with a different color pallete and type but it's pretty fun

I really hope this game succeeds and forces Game Freaks hand in improving their series. It has most of the things I would want. Ability to use your creatures in dynamic and tangible ways with the environment. A focus on caring for actual creatures rather than treating them as nothing more than tools for fighting. Much more than just the capturing and battling gameplay loop. But it sure does look like it's going to need a lot of work. I realize it's only just entering Early Access, but those animations and character models look super janky. I'm really hope the receive the funding and have the motivation to keep improving over time.

I’ve been with pokemon since yellow version in the 90’s, and I still get every main line game every year. I wouldn’t say Pokémon died out, however, as someone that grew up playing it since then… The game stopped maturing with its audience after ORAS. I do understand that it was always meant to cater to a younger audience, but even then, it seems like they’ve regressed on difficulty & increased hand holding.

It's such a weird looking random concept lol but it looks so damn good!! - I had not realised it was the Craftopia team! Love that game too. Though they haven't finished it yet so that is concerning me a little about this one. I am sure they will finish both and depending on the price I may buy it anyways as Craftopia has given me a lot of enjoyment already! The fact you can use your pals to automate stuff sounds epic. No other survival game has done this as well as it sounds here. Craftopia 2.0 let's goooo!

Thanks for all this in depth info. I find it funny western Pokemon fans get all uppity over the monster designs looking alot like Pokemon but when you point out how many Pokemon follow the same design philosophy in visuals and gameplay to tons of Dragon Quest monsters, they tend to immediately shut their mouths. Besides, western Pokemon fans will insist Pokemon's artstyle is perfect so they get to enjoy this remixed version of the artstyle and designing. If they wanted unique art styles, maybe they should have supported games like Digimon and Yo-Kai Watch more.

I’d like to point out that Scarlet and Violet on release were horrendously buggy, and that based on what nintendos been putting out the past few years in terms of pokémon, palworld has a pretty low bar to beat. I’m not saying scarlet/violet weren’t fun (I loved playing violet), but the game was just not meant for the switch.

Looks like an awesome twist on the Pokemon formula - just wish they had been a little more original with the creature designs. Nearly every creature I saw in the gameplay appears to be a blatant rip-off of an existing Pokemon, and even some of the names are clearly derived from their Pokemon counterparts. I think it would be much more exciting to see a fully-original art style and creature concept. Even with that said, a game like this (if it delivers) would transform Pokemon into something I've been wanting to see since I was a kid. Great video!

Many Ark and Rust servers are capped at 24 players so 32 players max isn't that bad. And the PVP always brings out the worst in people (or just attracts psychos, haven't figured which one yet).

Based on what I've seen of the promotional material for Palworld, it almost feels like Craftopia was a practice project while this could be what they were practicing for. @@sirkraken526 *Been following the game as a fan long before content creators starting using it for clicks and knew what it was(no offense) and just looked at the FAQ again it literally says "WE DON'T HAVE PLANS FOR THIS AT THE MOMENT" concerning Playstation but will consider during development which is the SAME type of thing that was said for Craftopia, and that hasn't happened and it's been over 3 years now(AMAZING game btw)* *Basically a nice way of saying "Hey it's cool to maybe grab an Xbox to play this you know?", as a guy who grew up on Playstation I just find it hilarious how it's new age fanatics are always port begging for Xbox games but they never seem so eager for games like Geshin or the upcoming Helldivers to be ported over for Xbox players to enjoy* *The hypocrisy is silly lol, but anyway man cool vid, think it may be time for many to stop being stubborn and just invest in an Xbox, Playstation is not the only one with good games anymore, simple*

​​​​@@sirkraken526*P.S. the confusion came in when you said "look into" which is an action vs "consider" which is passive, just want people to have accurate information as they are not "looking into" it now nor will they likely after, it's just the default langue they use as they also didn't look into it for their last game Craftopia seeing as they work closely with Xbox the same way Playstation has devs that works closely with them* *All in all they don't need to look into it, people can just simply get an Xbox if they want to play on console, same way they must get a Playstation to play Geshin Impact and other games locked to Playstation if they want to play them on console, again this is coming from a guy who's historically owned Playstations, I just dislike seeing people ALWAYS champion Playstation getting Xbox games but never the other way around 🤔, take care man* ✌️

@@imgnku if you look into Unreal/Unity asset stores you can easily make a demo or even a trailer that looks better than that. The Craftopia trailer looked really good back when it came out, but the more things you would try to unlock and use in the game you would realize that the game is very janky and unfinished. Next time you watch the Palworld trailer, examine the enemy AI when the player is shooting at them. It looks like they just sit there. The AI in Craftopia is very inconsistent. Sometimes the enemy won’t even notice you.

Personally, as a person who likes to build roller coaster and theme park attractions, I tend to be more of a base builder/crafting/cooking/making type of person, not so much a battler/catcher/dungeon explorer/exploration type of person. If I'm in a multiplayer session, I will always tell the others that I'd like to stay behind and take care of the base rather than battling/conquering/exploring the world. But for me, when it comes to single player, I have to do both exploring/dungeon completing/battling/crafting/building etc. However, considering I'm a slice of life laidback type of person, I usually tend to avoid dungeons and slowly have my characters level up over time.
