I'm not sure why you would want to move your base before you've got to the point you can have two bases, and if you did you're likely not very far into the game to the point I'd just... Delete everything and start over fresh anyway.

Not a bad idea if you only have access to one base. Most of my bases have been located near a fast travel already so I'll just throw everything into ideally a single or two chests, bring chest mats to my new location, build the chest and pal box by disassembling my old base from the map like you mentioned, go back to my old base and collect everything and just hit respawn to go to my new base with my mats. Same thing, just different steps, instead of adding the two step process of going to a fast travel point to place my mats/retrieve later, I just used that time to go back to my old base, grab stuff and respawn.

truth is almost everyone puts their first base right there at the plateau of beginnings. This is usually only a few steps from the first couple of fast travel points. If you just deconstruct your base and plop a new box in your new location you can fast travel back pretty close to anywhere MOST people would have first setup. using the grapple gun is a good idea but you need its first upgrade or you are stuck waiting 10 seconds between its uses. if you are on xbox and you are the host i would suggest turning off base deterioration as you can build outside of the ring for a lot of things thus expanding your actual building area. as xbox does not have public servers this should never cause a server over build issue as the population of any server is controlled. would not recommend for public server use.
