Nah, he was being both "responsible", trying to advise Pam to go to the hospital at the start, and then by trying to comfort her with Kevin and Jim after she admitted to be scared of the situation. But other than those brief moments he was being his annoying usual self and clearly trying trying to make the whole situation be about him instead of being about Pam just like he always does with everything

@@scruffd0g193 exactly, i despised and already have a deep grudge on him (at least S1-S8 version) and this is one of the moments where he crossed the line, and again, the way he intentionally stopped his car to tell michael about such a small unimportant so-called achievement to back up his unobtainable fantasy while aware about what he's doing and Pam's condition, it is absolutely moronic. But either way Pam's 10 mins late, so waiting an ambulance with that much of a distance is also wrong (At least make a meet drop-off point so both the ambulance and their car could meet, faster this way and it's legal)

I like it that Pam is scared and in denial. TV often glosses over what a big deal having a baby is. It’s painful, scary, often traumatic, and even dangerous. And at the end of it, whatever the outcome or how you get there, your life is changed forever. Pam’s fear is realistic, as is her reaction to the contractions. Kudos to Jenna Fischer, who at that time hadn’t had a baby irl.
