@Karine Alourde You did an excellent commentary story on Black American actress Pam Grier. Thank you. Also during that era of Black exploitation films another Black American beautiful actress was Tamara Dobson famous for her role as "Cleopatra Jones" who also was a fashion model born in my own hometown of Baltimore MD. Unfortunately she passed away at an early age of 59. ( Not sure if you cover her story already or not ) But I remember growing up that Pam Grier and Tamara Dobson was known as our black kick ass action female heroes. My parents was always talking about these two beautiful actress.

I don’t want to make it a race thing, but I’m actually surprised about how beautiful Black women, such as *Pam Grier* and *Megan The Stallion* , get ridiculed for being tall. But when it’s a beautiful White woman, such as *Brooke Shields* and *Adriana Lima* and *Nicole Kidman* , (whom are taller than them), they are consider goddesses and perfection 🙄

@Dumfries Spearhead white men, black men, Asian men...so pretty much men! Black women's beauty has been called "too masculine/manly" for centuries atp. The hate of statuesque black women even goes to the extent that bio females are routinely accused of being trans women as an insult (even though black trans women can be absolutely stunning too!). I have personally witnessed Michelle Obama (even though she has 2 children) and Meg Thee Stallion being called trans online. It's disgusting and disheartening that we're STILL dealing with misogynoir in 2023 😢

Yep! Color is a reason too! Neither of the 2 women mentioned (Pam or Megan) are light complected either. It's a race and color thing (even tho technically colorism is an extension of race/racism). edit: ooohhhh Megan could be a good Pam Grier contender in a biopic 🥰.

Pam Grier was really our first black female Super 🦸🏾‍♀️ Hero......I don't understand why she didn't have the staying power of modern women like Queen Latifah & Angela Bassett

Just googled and she is 5'8 which is interesting as not unusually tall for a woman but still tall compared to average especially when wearing heels.

I LOOOOOOOVE HER! Blaxploitation was wayyy out of my generation. I didn't discover her until the 2000s and I fell in love with her beauty/movies Idc. Some of the older folks I know say they weren't allowed to see blaxploitation films in theaters when they were young because of how they're parents felt they depicted black people but I find those films funny and interesting! When I was younger she reminded me of Sarita Choudhury from Mississippi Masala with Denzel Washington. Meg does look like her A LOT! Also the singer Ashanti and sometimes Beyonce to a lesser extent Idk why.

Wow...interesting you brought that time up about Freddie Prinze. He was also trying to make friends with me & we did ...perhaps before this exact time with Jackie..but it wasn't long before he left earth, a while after he and i rendezvoued at the Beverly Wilshire where I was staying, having flown in from Hawaii...both times. I don't how he found me. . He was very nice to me,, tho I treated him just as a friend. He'd chase me around, kept teasing me to pay attention to him....he was pretty sweet and kind...and fun loving, very playful with me. Trying to get me to go out with him ...maybe if I had..he would have cheered up and not up and leave us all. I was soooo sad. The world benefited in some good way by his existence here...and I miss him too. He was a Good Man. Happens I was with someone else at the time and I dont 2-time anyone, ever. So it was quite impossible.

Pam Grier, have always been a fantastic person back then as well as today... I hate the fact she had to have so much pain in her life... But there are always people out there who will test you to the point of fighting back or giving up, I'm so glad she chose to fight like hell... And by doing so she became a champion for herself and to other women, and young girls who might want to become an actors... Miss. Grier, have given them the hope they don't have to take abuse from anyone to achieve their goals in being successful.... Thank you Pam, and love your movies!!!!

New sub. Quick note..... BLKS weren't "exploited" in the days of BLK 1970's movies. That "blackploitation" term was a negative misnomer. BLKS were shown for the first time as heroes and in positive roles. When they stopped making the BLK movies of the 1970"s, we're back to the stereotypes, buffoonery etc.
