Do you think using the tape like you did where you cut it to curve would work on the stretch velvet circular skirts? Should I do that and then use a coverstitch on the top of the fold up?

I have always been taught to apply stay tape to back shoulder seams, not front.

Does it really matter whether you put the woven stay tape on the front or back shoulder seam, as long as you provide stabilization in one of those areas? I always place my stabilization preference on the back shoulder seam allowance.

Judy Kski Actually I'v heard to place stay tape on the back as you do. The reason being, if the seam is not pressed open, the shoulder seam is pressed to the back (i.e. serged). Although the stay tape is extremely light wieght, that slight addition would keep the seam forward. I wish i could find knit stay tape. I've only found woven. I sometimes cut a small strip of knit interfacing to use in its place.

Hi, you can take fusible interfacing and cut it on the bias, does the same job, hope this helps!
