♥ In this 2nd part, after the weighing of the heart, the deceased begins his journey in the different places (Arits) where Osiris crushed his enemies. If the deceased forgets a single name of the keepers of the castles, his quest will end and he will never gain eternal life!
Ani papyrus dates from the 18th Dynasty. The 18th Dynasty (-1550 / -1292) is often equated with the height of ancient Egyptian civilization. It was discovered in a tomb in Thebes in 1887.
In 1898, the English Egyptologist Sir Ernest Alfred Thompson Wallis Budge, curator at the British Museum, from the papyrus of Ani, published an edition of all the chapters
To be able to display the papyrus, Budge did not hesitate to cut it into 37 sheets or boards!
Originally, Ani's papyrus was about 23 meters long
