My first flight was in 1972 on a Pan Am 747 from JFK’s World Port to San Juan Puerto Rico and those 3 hours and 25 minutes changed me forever. It was truly an honor to fly Pan American World Airways on it’s flagship jet. The first but certainly not the last. The memory has stayed with me my whole life. Thanks dad for making it a first class trip that has never been rivaled. Pan Am and Wolrd Port are gone but the queen of the skies likes on. Thanks for sharing

Pan Am was respected throughout the world wherever they flew. The airline was America's unofficial flag carrier. American/Delta and United cannot or will not replicate the service that Pan Am did. In those days a lucky youngster could meet the Captain in the cockpit. Alas those days are gone after 9/11. The Persian Gulf carriers have the best service nowadays. Think Emirates/Qatar and Etihad. Though I suspect they are handed illegal subsidies, which the US top 3 Airlines dislike. Pan Am were the best, with TWA not far behind!

First landing from a Jumbo Jet in Vienna was in April 1971: It was a Boeing 747-200B from KLM. The name was „Donau“
