Just amazing and to think it was only uncovered in 1974, you have done a marvelous job in recreating the statues, it is like there were bodies inside them.

I had the great opportunity to visit this site in Xi'an in 2011. It was an amazing experience. I was also fortunate to meet the old farmer who was digging the well and discovered this treasure. According to our guide he is well cared for by the Chinese government.

How completely amazing!! I'd say that this Emperor got himself built an even better tomb etc than the Egyptian Pharaoh's! And to think of using Mercury! I was thinking of how many people contributing to the inner tomb would've died from Mercury exposure, until I read when you said that many were killed to keep it secret anyway!! Yikes 😳. Absolutely wonderful though, and cool how different those figures were according to rank, position etc!!

I kept thinking if there was a possibility for those workers to dig a tunnel (if they had the tools with them at the time) and get out before the mercury poisoning kicked in.

A lot of chopping heads were required to unite the different tribes to form a country with one language, one form of writing, a standard of measurement and one cultural identity. That's why the Chinese race got their name from this Emperor. You can see the different tribes in the costumes of the Terracotta Army.

@@panagiotisconstantinou 殉葬(Soon Jang : When the king dies, the servants are killed and buried together.) is bad. Shang dynasty(BC 17c ~ BC 11c) burials were very common. They have been hunting the barbarians around them. like the Aztecs. But during Qin Shi Huang's reign, the soon-jang was considered a waste of human beings. That is why the terracotta, not the human, was buried in the tomb.
Probably the closest I'll ever get to that tomb was an exhibition of the Terracotta Army in Germany in 2003. They had original size replicas of 122 warriors and eight horses, and smaller size replicas of the whole army and the tomb in formation. Even that was very impressive. Just as a work of art, the workings behind, megalomania, slavery and killing certainly aren't.
