I was deeply touched to see both Sandro and Simonetta come alive for just a moment. He is my favourite artist of all time! He not only captured her unique beauty and melancholy but also made his muse immortal through his art. I have been studying the Italian Renaissance, especially the history of Florence and the Medici family over the past few years and I’ve always wished to get a glimpse on how they possibly looked like in reality. So, thank you so much for making my wish come true and please keep up your great work!

@jonathancummings64003 жыл бұрын
@@antoniospano8006 Of course not. It was always a good idea for an aspiring artist to flatter Nobility. Especially a lady of whom other Nobles considered beautiful. It's like good politics, if the artist makes a lot if such people happy, that is really good for both his business and reputation. Think about it, he's still famous today, largely due to his depiction of this young lady as his "Venus".

"Botticelli's Venus" his rendition as we see it now may have changed with the centuries. It might have had the colors of hair and eye both the young lady an Venus are reputed to possess, but things degrade and change over a 500 year period.

(Antonio Colinas)

These are great and I always enjoy watching them but you very often get the eyes wrong. You almost always go for a hooded lid when the original painting and/or sculpture will have protruding eyes with a noticeable crease in the lid. Such is the case with Botticelli. It's still very fine work, though. I'm just nitpicking because it could look more accurate with this one attention to detail, since the eyes are what we look at first on a person.

If you can. And thank You for your work and beautiful recreations of historical people.

She was Botticelli's muse and is in most of his paintings. Based on visual representations and written descriptions, she was fair in coloring -- light honey-colored hair and green eyes. It would've been wonderful to see that here. She also died very young, at about 22 years of age.

Botticelli's Venus is described with blond hair and blue or green eyes.
@harrypike51402 жыл бұрын
I think red hair was more common in Europe back then, it's slowly being bred out due to recessive gene. In Tacitus' Germania he described the Germanic people as being "red haired" first and foremost. You don't see too many red haired Germans now...more so in the UK tbh. I also think red hair was always prized from an aesthetic perspective.
@poppsych32882 жыл бұрын
Italian Renaissance women knew how to color their hair blonde and reddish blonde with henna and other natural dye. But Simonetta was a natural blonde, I think, because she had light greenish eyes.

I’m Italian. There’s a big mistake in your facial reconstruction of Simonetta ‘s. She was renowned for her beauty. But the best quality of it was the color of her hair: absolutely blond and not light brown. In particular, alt the time fair-haired people were extremely rare. in Italy. That added fascination to the beautiful, young lady. Lawrence the Magnificent baptized her as the Sans Pareil” the French for unparalleled.Last but not least, her eyes were blue as far as I know
@CrisSelene3 жыл бұрын
I had no idea she died so young. And the idea that there might have been a posthumous cultin her honor is kinda creepy. Nevermind that they paraded her throughout the city in her casket to admire her beauty in death. But, of course, we shouldn't apply our social norms to people living almost 600 years ago.
@panagiotisconstantinou3 жыл бұрын
But it is still done today. If a super famous, head of state dies, he's paraded through the streets. I guess the idea is for the people to say goodbye.

Its kind of crazy to see these historical persona, until now lost to time, come "back to life" on the screen. I wonder how close the AI really got? Would Botticelli himself be amazed to see his own likeness alive on the screen? And was La Bella Simonetta accurately brought back to life for another generation of admirers 500 years after her untimely passing? She was a cutie, I understand Botticelli's infatuation! Maybe she was his "naughty night lover" ??? Those arranged marriages were not exactly known to be happy ones all the time!
