This video is great because these techniques he's displaying are not wrong, we, in Rofist, have some form of these as well WC; reason being we like to very much end the fight as quickly possible because we don't know if the guy we're confronting will either be by himself or have friends. You want to clear hit, damage, go!

no not any combat yoga exists and all taichi get beaten up by random thugs and 9-20 bum mma fighters easily there are so many martial arts that are invented for looks, not for effectiveness some are just plain dumb that 1 year gym membership to get in shape will beat it lol

I completely agree that self defence situations are completely different to competition environments. However, MMA is a place to test your boxing, trapping, kicking and grappling which all are required for a decent self defence skill-set. So why not test those parts of your FMA tools to see how they perform? Pressure testing tells us what really works and whether we are truly prepared for a violent confrontation against a prepared opponent.

agreed "no no thats competition, not the same at all in streetfight or self defense" is the most tired and bs argument i hear against mma and the styles it takes from like bjj boxing wrestling etc. not the whole match with refs and time limits yes. but the most important parts of it NO. the part where is someone is trying to KO you or throw a punch or slam you, is very real and happens in streetfights and self defense scenarios too. the flaw in the argument is it generalizes all sport fighting as COMPLETELY different when in reality training to slip a right hook and counter with slip and counter cross, or duck under into takedown and full mount are used in sport fighting AND seen to work in 1v1 streetfights. it all depends on situation, is it 1v1 or a group(then keep it standing no ground game), weapons(obviously not), etc. and any mma fighter can just add eyepokes and groin strikes if they feel like it lol, they do it by accident some times even in the cage LOL. of course they can remmeber they not in cage and are on the streets and will fight dirtier when needed. the proof is out there since the internet blew up, video after video has exposed the ineffective styles, unknowns, and effective styles and 99/100 the mma, boxer, wrestling, bjj, muaythai, kickboxer guy beats the traditional martial artist in any test/fight/hard sparring and even in streetfights were "trained mma fighter beats up or subdues robber criminal etc." so many of those but none for traditional martial artists. AGREED ALSO with PRESSURE TEST for me i just call it=PROVEN IN HARD SPARRING OR LIVE TESTING OR IN FOOTAGE OF FIGHTS i cannot be convinced to spend my time and money on your martial art if your techniques have NO PROOF while mma and the others i listed have 100s of hours on youtube showing them winning in hard sparring, gym fight challenges, streetfights vs criminals, etc. while your's has none and all i can see is DEMONSTRATIONS Pressure test proof in hard sparring/real fight altercation footage/full contact combat sports matches>>>>>>>>>>>>>demonstrations only/theory only/no sparring/no fighting to test it

in 2024, mma,boxing,bjj,wrestling,muaythai,kb,judo vs all these traditional MA's not used commonly in mma.... its like: Western medicine and hospitals vs shaman witch doctors and traditional herbs.

elbow and knee are pretty strong bone can be use as weapon to knock out your opponent beside choking your opponent into submission, in real fighting as soon as u close in situation prepare to fighting dirty on the ground, it not gona be fighting stand up on feet for along time like that if not able to stand up and fight them then u have to move close to the ground and do choking on arm, leg, or neck to make them give up the fight as well that why most UFC fight it like if they can knock each other stand up when they down on the ground it gona happen too, and most win or lose battle are on the ground more than stand up if u fight like 1martial art then fighting stand up but if u go into stronger competion when everything is use or street fighting, u better learn fighting laying on the ground as well u got less space to move compare to stand up right so it harder to win also

Technically no, but for arts like these you try to end the fight as quick as possible, if one technique is enough to bring someone under control, you only do one

@@LiShuBen yep, i agree. it's about the transitions...in reality you would have started with a weapon and so when you've lost your weapon, you don't switch to not holding weapon stance lol but a continuation of your intentions with the least amount of movements from when you still had your weapon in your hand.

every martial arts is not perfect and has strengths and weaknesses. every move has a counter. even the most effective common move from boxing, the jab, can be countered with a slip and overhand its all about timing, physical stats of fighters, and a bit of luck. this style is just striking mainly, one duck under into a double leg takedown and wrestling or bjj, its over your getting held down or choked or beat up on the ground.

Until a Philippino martial artist succeeds in MMA I am less and less interested in FMA now. I know that FMA begins with weapons but if the empty-handed techniques are to be tested we need to see them in open competition versus other disciplines, e.g. boxing, Muay Thai and karate
@socadancebookmcleod490

That’s not a great argument because it’s meant for self defense… the fm artist would jave their hands tied in the ring. I’m saying this as a a Mixed martial artist and self defense practitioner. Those is not meant for fighting with rules. My instructor made me feel it both with gloves on and without. I trained with police doing this stuff. When the fma artist puts on gloves they may as well be boxing

@socadancebookmcleod490 Hi, I completely respect your opinion but if so many other disciplines have been tested in MMA then why not FMA?

@@silang8381 fma was tested on the battlefield against the spanish conquistadors. It is a weapons art. It is a self defense system not a sport. The empty hands are an after thought.

@socadancebookmcleod490 so the FMA empty hand techniques should work in any situation or they shouldn't be taught at all. I completely understand that there are techniques that cannot be used in a sport setting but surely FMA empty handed techniques could be tested in open competition against other systems?
@socadancebookmcleod490
@socadancebookmcleod490 5 ай бұрын
@@silang8381 the problem is... the ring is not the place to test a self defense system. This is why so many systems fell to the wayside in MMA... not because they were inefficient but because the ring is not the place to use it. Back in the days when MMA was not called MMA... it was a different story. I believe someone even lost their life. Also, there are factors that go into self defense that cannot be utilized in the ring... like timing, psychology, environment, size difference, etc. The only way to test that is to have realistic drills. Also, Self defense is for you to get home safe, not to stay and fight like in the ring.

Which is why he's teaching this movements first. It's always funny because there's always a comment like this in every martial arts video everywhere. Judging by the video, he's teaching a class, which makes sense to me because idk, but maybe you need to learn the basic movements before you start thinking about the counters.

perhaps, but i've never heard of tong long before to say that it is lol. panantukan is from the blade, it's knife fighting without a knife. so if you look at the history of filipnio martial arts, and what that art is, you could see that his movements is from kali/arnis/escrima. so unless you describe the sections and indicate why it's a knockoff because of certain movement or technique without comparing it to silat/kali/escrima, then it seems you're just saying it cause it just all looks the same to you lol
