Footwork is always important in panantukan. Without learning the basics, the art itself is incomplete. Great job on the tutorial.

I always explain to my students... In Silat you should feel as if you're walking through your opponent. When it comes to Panantukan, you should feel like you're running through them.

I don't spend much time on you tube videos but I've seen your clips for quite a while . You put the work in and you are respectful . Anyone that's interested in these arts can see that you are positive . Can you clear up a question ? When you use the triangle , should you focus straight ahead or if my right foot is stepping on that angle to the right , would my body have a slight shift at my shoulders . The opponent is at 12 o clock I'm stepping from 6 toward 3 taking an angle so that my opponent would have to turn to face me . I wouldn't be facing 3 o clock , I'd be angled towards 12 . I may not have explained it as I see it , let me know if it makes sense to you . Great job with your channel . 👍

Thank you for the kind words and support! In regards to your question: when in combat you would generally swing your rear leg / foot in a pivot after your initial step towards 3 o'clock. This would put your shoulders and body in-line when striking your opponent with the jab. When it comes to using the lead hand, you want to be focused on your body alignment towards 12. If leading with your rear hand (demonstrated in another video) you want to turn your head towards 3, but throw your rear shoulder to 12. Hope that makes sense!

Great video! If using the hammer grip would you use a small arc for the jab and cross or would you bend the wrist to line point up?

To be honest, I would avoid using the hammer grip for this drill. If you use the hammer grip you would be using the butt end of the knife for hammers and slashes.

If one needs to weild knife on the basis of boxing punches, then what reason will he pursue ur course.

Perhaps you don't understand that Kali is the basis of this martial art. It is a weapons based system that teaches empty hand striking in conjunction with weapons striking and deployment tactics.

@@SakanLam where is kali, ur teaching boxing jab cross hook uppercut and then calling it kali.... Traditional kali doesn't need to borrow strikes from the west.

You seriously believe that people in Asia never developed a jab, cross, or hook (or any motions similar in that manner)? You speak as if the the west had a dominion on all things boxing. The fact was, westerners were using Pugilism before modern boxing ever came into play.

Thanks for sharing it Sakan, hope this goes to good hands :) Do you have a video to check wich knuckles are hitting (jab) and why is best in that way? Thanks again

@@matiasc4121 Thank you for your comment! I don't have any videos on knuckle alignment in punching as it is a challenging topic and primarily a matter of preference. For bare knuckle I prefer using Wing Chun and JKD methods, which are the bottom 3 knuckles in conjunction with drop step footwork. When it comes to Boxing, Panantukan, and MMA, I use the top two knuckles primarily and occasionally the bottom 3. I think Ramsey Dewey has a very good explanation of which knuckles are the best to use and in which scenario.

So, that means it is not authentic, boxing is like 70 years old and western, and ur claiming to teach panantukan which is an Eastern asian martial arts style so martial art culture u represent and ur actions are not harmonious..

@@SakanLam yes, I agree ,u might win but here I object that real panantukan cannot be based on jab right cut hook of boxing, fighting and winning is a different matter. The question here is of authenticity

I never claimed Panantukan to be an original style in itself. We all know it is a hybrid system of Boxing, Kali, and Silat. This is how it was presented by our teachers, as well. I'm not sure what your intentions are in posting such negative comments, but it's not going to undermine my work in any way.

@@SakanLam ok, so my intention is very clear. I don't want to criticize you. I was under the influence of this fact that panantukuan would be a far more older style and was originated before boxing had come into the picture, but, since u said it is a hybrid, than IT is Fine. Ur doing great in that case brother , if it is a hybrid Thank you

@@invinsiblemuaythaimuaythai2367 I'm glad that you made your intentions clear and that we've come to an understanding. Thank you for taking the time to communicate with me and sorry that I took it so negatively. Appreciate your support and encouragement. All the best, my friend 🙏.
