35-100 "mk1" even after firmware fix has some jitter with the OIS. If you have a body with IBIS, you might be ok disabling OIS though - otherwise, you might want to get the "mk2"

Can confirm, the 35-100 mk1 has jitters in OIS. Using a body with IBIS gets rid of this problem if you turn off lens OIS.

Great video Daniel and channel! I'm looking for the best wide angle lens for my GH5. I'm looking at these 3 lenses. Any advice was be greatly appreciated! 1. Panasonic 8-18mm Wide Angle Lens! Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 8-18mm f/2.8-4 ASPH. 2. Kowa Prominar 8.5mm F2.8 MFT Lens 3. VOIGTLANDER 10.5mm f0.95 MFT Nokton Lens.

Very good info and a well done vid. But, I'm a GH5/OMD-E 1 owner and primarily an Olympus Olympus M. Zuiko 'Professional' lens user. The Oly 12-40, 2.8 beats the Panasonic 12-35, 2.8, hands down. Excluding the in-lens stabilization and some additional mass. Also the Rokinon 7.5mm F3.5 UMC Fisheye CS is half the price of the Loawa and a bit slower, but the sharpness and color is outstanding. One outstanding exception on Pana lenses is the Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 8-18mm f/2.8-4 ASPH. It's as big as a horse. But it is the ATV of wide angles zooms. Including the excellent build quality. Just my opinion....

The rokinon 7.5 is a fish eye the laowa is not. I dont like the disorted fish eye look you cant shot real estate with it its just a fx lense

Nice kit. If were to have only one lens for the gh5 [selected from that kit] i'd go with the Voigtlander. The pic quality from that lens and the old fashioned metal build would be worth not having AF. When vlogging, the gh5 focus peaking makes manual focus easy enough.

Got an G80 and just ordered the 25mm F1.7 for 100$ here in Sweden. Seems like a great lens for the price from what i've seen. Already got the Panasonic Leica 15mm F1.7 and super happy with it but primarily use it for hiking when i need something wide enough for both vlogg but also for landscape. The 25mm is more usable when not hiking. Also probably getting the 12-35mm mark 2 lens for that weather proofing and constant F2.8. I got the 12-16 F3.5-5.6 as a kit lens with the camera but i want that f2.8 with more background blur.

Thanks for sharing your 6 lenses that you use, i'm planning on getting the GH5 this month but i have a limited budget so i want to stick to native lenses, what 2 lenses would you recommend that i can start with, i would be mostly doing talking head shots, Interviews, real estate videos and a few travel videos, and also what memory cards do you use to capture 4k footage at the highest bit rate?
@danielsin
@danielsin 6 жыл бұрын
As of now I'm shooting interviews with 2 12-35mm and they are great. For real estate and travel videos I would suggest wide lenses.

Thanks for the video. I would recommend leaning towards zoom lenses only for run and gunning, and maybe carry one prime in your bag - something like the 25mm 1.7. Fixed focal lengths are only infrequently useful for run and gun, but zooms will save your life. Thanks again.

It IS expensive going from a Mark 1 to Mark 2. Maybe for myself, is whether the 12-32mm kit lens on my GX85 warrants an upgrade to the 12-35mm at f2. But man, a thousand bones is a lot of bones. BTW, you and the brother make an interesting odd couple. :)

Daniel, Good Video. I do travel videos and in the past I used ENG type cameras. The last was Panasonic DVX200. Very good camera, but it is too intrusive in most situations of travel. I am now switching to GH5, but am missing the “live” power (electronic) zoom of a ENG camera. I tried to use manual zoom with Leica 12-60 mm, but cannot do it smoothly enough. What is your experience? Do you use power zoom? What glass would you recommend to achieve some of the effects I am looking for?
@danielsin
@danielsin 6 жыл бұрын
I know the Sony alpha cameras have that power zoom on certian lenses but I haven't used any "power" like zooming on the gh5. I've been using DSLR type cameras for many years now and I got used to manually zooming. Most of the time I don't zoom at all with my style of shooting. If anything I would zoom in before I hit record. You may be out of luck with something that can closely replicate the power zoom on a gh5.

If you're looking to grab more shallow depth of field and the kit 14-42mm fits your needs to grab all of your shots then you can't go wrong replacing that with the 12-35mm f2.8. I would also try out the 25mm f1.7 for nice medium to close up shots of people/ conversation scenes.
