In this video I cover some of the most common record quality modes I use on the Panasonic GH5 II (GH5M2). #DigitalMirrorlessCamera #LUMIX #LUMIX_GH_series #GH5M2 #GH5II

That 12-60 tho,,, 😏👍 I am so very in love with this camera and am beyond pleased with my purchase. So much so that I've plans on purchasing a 2nd as a back up.😊 You making these "instructional/tip" videos, is absolute GOLD for those of us lacking knowledge but up & coming. Thank you much for these videos & keep em-coming 😎✌️

Important note: FHD 1080p video beyond 60fps (VFR) is line skipped (as is common with many cameras when recording in high frame rate modes). This means (unwanted) moiré patterns are possible in these modes but only when "Image Area of Video" is set to Full (full sensor readout). By using Pixel / Pixel option of "Image Area of Video", you'll get a roughly 2.6x 1:1 Pixel readout crop in FHD 1080p video and minimal to no moiré patterns since it isn't line skipped up to 120fps. All other recording modes including 4K at 60fps are super sampled from the 20 megapixel sensor and won't produce any moiré patterns :)

How we put 10bits 1080p in MP4 ?
@nicolestormwolf4386 Жыл бұрын
I don't have that much options on my lumix in mp4 only 1 page and in mov only 4 pages, why this look like that?

What Lumix camera are you using?
@zuz_zd Жыл бұрын
@@BackusCreativeImagingI have exactly the same only 1 page and in mov only 4 pages. I have the Panasonic Lumix Gh5-II

I don't have a GH5-II yet, but it appears to meet my needs when I get round to buying a camera. What sort of file sizes are being generated per minute when recording in a MOV container at 30p, 4:2:2, 10 bit, in both 4k Long-Gop and Full HD All-Intra ? I've got a feeling both might be around 3gb, but I could be way off. Thanks.
@BackusCreativeImaging Жыл бұрын
For 4K 30p LongGOP 150mbps, that's 150mbps / 8 bits to a byte so about 19 MB per second plus a little extra for audio. Full HD All-I at 200mbps is roughly 26 MB per second with audio. V30 SD cards support all recording modes in the camera except 4K All-I which isn't necessary :)

Just to ask does the mp4 uses h264 codec and mov uses h265 codec? Because h265 codec is pretty hard to edit on my pc
@BackusCreativeImaging2 жыл бұрын
I just recorded some clips and tested this. 4K30 8 bit and 10 bit in MP4 container, then 4K30 in 8 bit and 10 bit in MOV container. Using MediaInfo, the 8 bit files were in AVC / H.264. I also suspect that 4K60 in 8 bit would be H.265 because H.264 doesn't support 4K60 as far as I know. So if you got this camera, you'd be shooting in 8 bit, which isn't bad so long as you expose everything correctly. The Natural profile is excellent, and the Flat profile is still acceptable in 8 bit, plenty of dynamic range to work with. You just have a little less leeway in 8 bit with white balance correcting and such in post but it would be fine :)

Thanks a lot. Using camera for 2 years and never used pixel to pixel. In video 4K the crop is 1.3 ‘ is it? Like 24 to 70 will be 31-91mm.
@BackusCreativeImaging Жыл бұрын
Correct. In 4K with 1:1 pixel to pixel you'll get roughly 1.3x. So a 24mm lens would be more like 31mm then multiply by 2 for MFT crop factor. Also multiply the aperture value by 1.3x, just like you'd do with a real teleconverter. So the Panasonic 10-25mm f/1.7 becomes a ~13-32.5mm f/2.2 lens. That's 26-65mm full frame equivalent focal length with f/4.4 full frame equivalent DOF :)
@StanTregubenko Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot’ didn’t know that aperture will be as well *1.3. And *2.6 the same calculations for hd?
@BackusCreativeImaging Жыл бұрын
Yes, 2.6x for HD 1:1 :)

@@BackusCreativeImaging And quality of pixel to pixel compare to standard mode is same or better?
@BackusCreativeImaging Жыл бұрын
In 4K 1:1 the quality looks excellent. FHD 1:1 looks a little grainy but I run it through Topaz Video AI which temporally denoises and enhances to 4K for amazing results :)

With my original gh5 i always shoot 4k50 anamorphic but is 8 BI only and i hate it because it Breaks easy with heavy colorgrading. Has mark2 4k50 10 bit in anamorphic mode?
@BackusCreativeImaging Жыл бұрын
Great question. I just checked my GH5M2. Unfortunately there are no anamorphic modes that are 10-bit in 60fps. There is a 4K 4:3 60 mode that supports anamorphic but it's 8-bit.
@andersistbesser Жыл бұрын
@@BackusCreativeImaging oh thank you. This is heartbreaking. I wanted to upgrade my gh5 b cause they said it has 60 in 10 bit but i am an anamorphic only shooter, so thr gh52 is no upgrade in this regard.

Thank you for your effort to make these GH5M2 tutorials, they're very very helpful. I watched tons of tuts over the past months but yours are simply the best. I'm a newbie and I would have a question maybe you can answer it. I just bought an Atomos Ninja V HDMI Monitor & Recorder and I'm so confused about which recording mode I should set in my GH5M2 to output the highest quality video via HDMI 2.0 in order to able recording 4096x2160 60fps 10bit 422 Apple ProRes HQ (size doesn't matter) which my Atomos can do. If I scroll through my recording quality modes I just can't figure out which option I should choose in my camera. The closest setting in my GH5M2 is 4096x2160 60fps 10bit BUT it's only 420 not 422. Should I output this recording mode and Atomos will do the work? I just can't get my head around this. TIA
@BackusCreativeImaging2 жыл бұрын
If that's the best setting you see, try it. Would be nice if the GH5M2 UI confirmed that the output is 4:2:2 on DCI 4K 60fps. I have never used an external recorder so I can't give you advice on this. I'm sorry :(

If your system frequency is set to 24.00 Hz then you'll have less options. That could be the reason why. Other than that I'm not sure why you have less options.

Thanku bro, pls recommend me a decent laptop for editing
@BackusCreativeImaging Жыл бұрын
There are so many options to choose from. You definitely don't need a powerful laptop, if you're willing to create proxies. I have a powerful desktop computer (AMD 5950X 16 core CPU and Asus Strix RTX 3090 GPU) and create proxies to make editing faster. It depends on your budget. What's your budget?

I don't want to sound rude or bash anybody, and maybe it's just me, but the constant movements/shaking of the camera and the constant quick switching back and forth in the menus make your videos very difficult to follow for me.

I have no problem with criticism and I'm well aware that this video isn't professionally produced, plus I get easily distracted as there's no script. This is all a side hobby for me, I do it for fun. However I do plan to make better videos. I tend to just do these off the cuff with no planning and I know the production value here is mediocre lol. I'll do better in my future tutorials, hopefully. If you want to see what this camera can do, check out my latest video at the zoo: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6KpZYVtbrN1aa8 - I'm very knowledgeable just not great at teaching. I guess more practice will make perfect though!
