Panasonic Lumiox X vario 14 42 Power Zoom review

Good video. I also bought this lens... then sold it and now I'm buying it again due to its unique features. This is the ONLY lens in the MFT lineup that has image stabalization and can go down to 11mm (with a DMC-GWC1 .79x converter, which is hard to find). It's crazy to say that, but it's true. Sure, the bodies now have IBIS, but not all the bodies have it (GX880). Also, it's super-compact!

This is a great travel lens, it is really sharp, tiny, and inexpensive. The only issue I has is at temperature, when it gets below zero the lens does not retract and error messages are shown. When the temperature gets above zero it works fine. Not a big issue as the lens is ideal for travel.

I've this lens, the one I have is one of the first released and is white, it was part of a white GF1 kit. It's a nice, and very small. I prefer the 14mm 2.5 for its more compact size but I like this one for its versatility.

Was this lens ever part of a kit with a camera ?

Yes, it was often sold with the G or GF range of bodies.

Nice to see a recent review of this lens. This was my first m43 lens, but I rarely use it nowadays. Do you know the Sony 18-105 f4 lens? It is also a power zoom that does exactly what you wish for and it has a very good feel and control. I wished there would be a similar lens for m43 with that functionality and zoom range.

I have never used the Sony 18-105 F4. Unfortunately, it looks to me like Panasonic is not interested anymore in making power zoom. It is a pity.

Hi Naresh. Sorry for the late answer. This lens will work with a GH5. That video was made about a year and a half ago. I tend to review older equipment, as I believe more in value for money than in the last gadgets. Thanks for watching!
