Panasonic Lumix GH5 / G9 hidden menu for shutter count - Don't do this with VLOG installed!

Ohh thank god . my vlog came back out of no where. and im so happy now. i was feeling so disappointed and hated you for a sec. but now that my vlog is back . i will never attempt that dangerous risky thing. they told me that it void my warranty. entering service mode void my warranty . and no longer i have warranty on my camera because of this stupid thing. my camera is only 1 month old and i did it just because i was curious. but nobody should do that on a new camera. specially before your warranty is over and if you got vlog installed. PLEASE ADD THAT TO THE TITLE . about losing the warranty and risk losing vlog forever because you cant even install a new code on the camera.

Mat Off so your not sure what you did to bring the vlog back? Guess it really wasn't reset but that's strange if it disappeared and reappeared on it's own.

Eric Myers I think it was never deleted to begin with. I was just in the photo mode and I didn't see the vlog there lol. When I put it to video mode it was there. I just panicked when I didn't find it in photo mode lol.

I'm glad I did it on my new GH5 because the shutter and power counts were not 0 or factory-testing low, they were both in the hundreds, so I took it straight back and got another that had about 15 power ons and 30 shutter operations (factory testing most likely). At least in my country that cannot void the warranty, perhaps your consumer protections are not as strong.

One thing you forgot to mention is that the SD card MUST BE IN SLOT 1. I was going nuts trying to get it to work over 10 times until I realized the camera I was considering buying only had a card in Slot 2. I put it in Slot 1 and it worked the first time. Glad I figured it out finally. Still gave your video a thumbs up as I can see you might not consider that...

Hey, I have no idea what happend to you. It seems you are in permanent service mode now (which isnt affecting the GH5 as it seems). But I don't know how to end this. sorry. Normally after this the camera is turned off and on and in normal mode.

It looks more like a hidden diagnostics menu, although it's nice that the camera, I don't think I should play with my camera's settings like that. Cool, but risky, at least for me...

Yeah it's not intended for the customer to use it. I have read out the actuations in many Panasonic cameras with this menu. So far no problems. But as stated in the description there might be issues with V-Log installed. So I wouldn't recommend to do it then.

I did this test on a brand new GH5 I just got from a store and it's showing a power count of 17 and shutter count of 58. That seems odd as I'd expect it to say 1 (PC) and 1 (SC) although I suppose that could be due to some factory tests before shipping like how a new car usually has some miles on it. I'm curious now. Has anyone else done this test on a new GH5?

Hey. Thats normal. New cameras are always around 20-70 actuatios due to tests after production. I had this on my G9 and my E-M1 II from Olympus aswell

Thanks for the speedy reply and that's a relief. The box looked good and everything seemed fine. I was just a bit worried when the screen didn't have a plastic protector thing on it and then there were the power/shutter counts. Thanks again :)

As I remember I didn't have a protector on screen either. It is actually good to know, that the cameras are tested quite a bit and you don't get one dead on arrival ;)

Just tried it, no issues. I have the latest 2.6 firmware installed along with vlog. Everything showed as on this video. Then I just turned the camera off and vlog was still there!!!

The SD card must indeed be in slot 1. The way they label them is confusing. I.D for slot 1 lies directly above slot 2 ! Cheers Mr. Packard.

Hello, I have a Panasonic G9 has gone into service mode must be accidentally because I dont know how to to it even if I wanted to, I followed the following steps given by a technician but did not work after pressing the display button, the 'strict' disappeared and left with a blank screen. The camera works fine except for the exclamation mark when shutting down and the loss of 150fps option. Any help? Camera still under warranty but I am not keen posting it 800 km away for repairs.

Hey. Here someone had similar issues with GX85 www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4195518 with a link aswell to someone exiting service mode on GH4 (first answer post). Maybe the GH4 version will work for G9 aswell but use at your own risk.

It seems that Panasonic have disabled this or changed it with the new Firmware. Since I aswell cannot reproduce it anymore. Maybe because of the issues with VLOG
