Panasonic RA-7500 From 1979 Repair. Pt. 1

A quick sprint out of the starting gate, quickly turned into a rabbit hole as usually the case with an older unit. This one can be known as the oxidation station. Human error also to blame for mishap involving the output IC. Not uncommon for oneself to cause their own issue on top of everything else going on. In a nutshell, The unit came totally dead. Power restored, loss of audio channel determined, tape performance getting restored, along with No FM reception. Unit also suffered poor/cracked solder connections throughout. In the end, presented soon in a Part 2., a phenomenal unit as with most Panasonic units.

Love the colour of that panasonic, they were a highly underrated brand, unfortunately Panasonic steel parts didnt hold up very well against rust, my microsystems capstans are rusty

I have the same unit. After using headphones the right channel stopped working on speakers but worked fine on headphones. I got lucky and sprayed contact cleaner and worked the jack in and out and repaired the problem. I also had the same problem as you with the tape. All problems are at that switch you were working with. Mine is now working fine and I am very happy with the u nit. I did replace the tape belts also.
