Hello I just recently purchased the rf 2200 for my Museum.So your video has been very helpful to me as I'm going to compare it to my Yeasu ft dx 10. Best regards. Ron z. Wa3090Swl.

i heard a squeal that sounded like your RF2200 on ShortWave through the ham bands on my Sony ICF-SW7600GR tonight.

Vlado did mine, also. Ironically, I experimented last night with my MLA-30, hooked up the same way you rigged up your Wellbrook.

@@dieselten01 We have much in common- he did my 6700W, which I love! But the RF-2200 was a Christmas gift from my parents in 1977, and will always be special to me. It was my first proper shortwave multiband set.

As much as I love my fully recapped and aligned RF-2200, where it’s really going to get blown away by your Yaesu is in stability. But all analog radios of this vintage drifted, especially in single sideband.

Hi from Scotland. Thank you so much for this video. I recently bought a RF 2200 in amazing condition over here. It's the USA version using 120v ac input. Not so good for the UK 240 v system! I'll stick with batteries for the moment. The set works great but needs some realignment as after I use the calibrator the tuning is still a bit off. I've decided that I can live with this and can check the actual frequency with my D808 or R108. I read in a forum that the 2200 was designed for Panasonic by YAESU and KENWOOD. I wonder if you knew about this? 73s and GDX?
@dieselten012 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, I was not aware of that. As for the dial accuracy - as you can see it took me several attempts to get it right. There are multiple tones when you press down that switch and for me at least, I had a hard time finding the right tone to tune to. Good luck

Now THAT was an interesting comparison!!! And wow, such great sounds!!! Thank you keep up the good work!!! What antenna was the Yeasu using?! I’m wanting to learn more about the antenna options too!!!

Both were on same antenna, Wellbrook. Thats the only way to do a fair comparison, you have to use the same antenna

How should you use the 125 khz calibrator? I can't quite figure it out. It doesn't pip every 125 khz. 73s and GDX
@myradiovideos2 жыл бұрын
@@jimgordon1563 Jim, what I do is first set the 500 KHz marker using the Lock function. so 9.000, 9.500 or 10.000 and set the dial to Zero or 500 KHz position. Then tune up or down to find your station. If the station appears to be off slightly, you can then activate the 125 KHz to see how close you are to being right on... If you are off a bit from the indicated marker on the fine tune dial you can then press BOTH the 125 and 500 together and it will click and you can get it exact.. I would first use ONLY the 500 KHz and then if at the 125 KHz marks, use both so it locks in and can be fine tuned. If you press BOTH in the beginning like in the video, you can get confused with both the 125 and 500 being turned on at the same time. Hope this helps!

You said rf2200 is best ever on mw. I see u have so many kings of radios.collina cube drake watkinson..itt ..does none of these professional radio have edge over rf200 on medium wave?
@dieselten01 Жыл бұрын
Yes of course they do. But they need to be connected to a rather large Wellbrook antenna mounted outdoors in order to do it. I try to classify radios within their intended use. RF2200 is a battery operated portable that in this video is performing about as well as the Yaesu on short wave. It is a great radio

@@dieselten01 thanks for detailed response. You have get great sets. I also found Russian ishim 003 hf receiver. It got 4 gang capacitors...3 for rf stages 1 for oscillator..but the mw reception is not great..may be coz it has small gang like size of of coils and not big ferrite rod..Should I try to put a big ferrite rod coil or it's not worth the effort..

@@oasishut3120 an external loop antenna, even if it is just clipped onto the sliding aerial antenna, will make great improvements. You don’t have to use an expensive Wellbrook, you can use a $50 MLA30 loop from Ebay
