I found this fascinating piece of 1980s technology at the Salvation Army thrift store back in August. This model was probably manufactured in the mid to late 1990s, and it has all the bells and whistles. It has auto-reverse, so you don't have to flip the tape over to play the other side, XBS Bass Boost, a digital AM/FM radio, which doesn't seem to pick up signals too well, and even a stopwatch! Another unique thing about this Walkman is that it was manufactured in Taiwan. Usually, Panasonic products from this time were made in Japan. The cassette tape I used for this demonstration was John Fogerty's "Centerfield", released in 1985. A great album that I picked up at a Value Village for 75 cents.
