Yes I would.. not because I need it now, but it's a good way to future-proof. In the next few years, RAW video will become more practical as computers and media become better.

Yes, and it's going to be the Blackmagic pocket 4K

We want raw for the S1 ! Is there a thread to gathered a lot to claim it from Panasonic ? Just 4k raw , i think the S1 has the hardware capabilities ...my 13 year old canon 5d mk3 shoots 1080/ 2k / 3k raw with ML hack , the S1 is centuries ahead at hardware capabilities ....

Blackmagic's BRAW has smaller file sizes than ProRes HQ while being more versatile and easier to grade. So it depends on what type of raw we might get.

Being able to output a raw signal via hdmi doesnt mean that you have to record it in raw. It just means that it retains the full color information from the sensor read out without any compression at all. (Unlike a 10bit 422 log file that is somewhat compressed.) The most popular and compact external recorder (ninja V) doesnt even have a raw recording option (not even prores raw). But all the compression would be done inside the recorder with prores if you feed a raw signal in, thats gonna be cleaner. But I like to think that Panasonic is already very good with their internal all-i 10bit 422 400mbs codec and their color science, that the benefit of recording prores externally isnt really there anymore.

Panasonic Lumix G 25mm f/1.7 ASPH. Lens is available at 150 USD in B&H. I have an Olympus O-MD EM-10 II and I am interested in getting a 25mm MFT lens. Is this a good option? Thank you very much for your time.

Wahab Dilawar for sure man that is a great lens for that price! Sometimes they even sell it brand new for that price so if you’re not in a rush just keep looking!

@@KimCruz1 That's the price for a brand new copy and a used one in "9" condition is offered for 110 USD. Thanks for the reply.

@@wahabdilawar oh awesome honestly i would go for the used version as well and save some cash! the 25mm 1.7 is definitely a good lens just make sure you're ok with the tighter focal length.. i find the 35mm focal length more comfortable as an overall prime!

ProRes or DNxHR with compression
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
honestly never worked with dnxhr but prores was just fine- i also use final cut and it plays well with that software!

the sources if read from just claimed that the sensor should be capable to output raw. What makes totally sense since as a manufacturer you may not want to develop one sensor for just one camera. So i guess they will also update their higher cinema lineup with a full frame option. I dont think the bring RAW to the new "Photo Cameras". Maybe a new Varicam with internal RAW and something like an EVA2 with external RAW Option via Atomos.
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
interesting the latest rumors also has the S1R at $4k! So it's really encroaching on the cinema line now.. I wonder how that will work in the future?
@rickt.75966 жыл бұрын
@@KimCruz1 i mean, i would be pretty happy with 14+ stop in prores raw. But i doubt it. In my case i wouldnt rig a DSLR as a cinema camera for a cinema camera job. I would rent a proper camera. In the other hand i wouldnt like to shoot event-style with a typical cinema camera sized body. So in my world nobody is losing when small (and comparable cheap) cameras can record raw. Arri may also not be the beste camera anymore when it comes to DR or resolution. But its the camera most films are shot with and thats because everyone in the biz is used to them and they are reliable. So decisions arent always made on pure performance which leads to the conclusion that recording raw in small cameras really wouldnt change much.
@CommiePinko1016 жыл бұрын
Raw is so much easier for amateurs to color correct, & grade than Log is. The only downside of raw is the uncompressed kind has huge file sizes. If BRAW takes off that one problem will be solved.
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
i think you mean it's easier in terms of latitude right? if yes then definitely! but in terms of adding 'proper' color grading to your workflow when you previously never did it.. recorded on massive RAW files.. it might be a shocking experience to people who are new to it haha! How compressed is BRAW?
@stevenr38535 жыл бұрын
Raw would nice when you have to really push the shadows when exposing for high
@KimCruz15 жыл бұрын
yeah it would be! I wonder how big the files get though lol.. i saw a video once about how prores is a better alternative to raw video but i've never tried it myself................
