This is a cool. Video. Couple of notes id like to throw in 1) Star Wars and the rest of the OT on UHD Blu Ray were pointed out on HDTV test as really dim HDR peeks. Around 200 nits. Second. If your set has been professionally calibrated then the EOTF and Gamma should both be for a "light controlled" environment. Ie dark. Except for perhaps a 5% bias light behind the panel. If you need a brighter version of Star Wars get hold of the Project 4k77 version as it is 100% pure and not hampered by years of DNR and colour grading. But you should be in a totally dark room for your default professional mode

Have you compared the Dolby vision streaming version to the HDR disc version? I wonder how the brightness on the DV stream is also to low.
@MyFireVideos7 ай бұрын
Yes, I did compare them. It is a little brighter

@@MyFireVideos unfortunately I think Star Wars came out a little to early in the life cycle of 4k discs. Disney has a way better handle on the format in the last year or so. HDR10 in 2024 rivals Dolby Vision quite comfortably.

@adamATOM3 I would love a reissue of the disc. Until then I'll have to change my settings, which is annoying. You are saying HDR10 is competitive with DV right? I know a lot of people lament when discs don't have DV, but I've found the HDR10 to be great, like in Casablanca

@@MyFireVideos yeah I think a high bitrate HDR10 movie is just as good, in most cases, as Dolby Vision. You could truthfully call Dolby Vision just a marketing tool at this point. Those recent limited edition, Disney releases of their streaming shows are a perfect example. Now to be fair if you didn’t have a disc player as capable as the Panasonics are with handling HDR and haven’t carefully set up your tv properly maybe it’s a different story.

so basically "light environment" is just a saved setting of "8"?

Yes

I have found this with Star Wars as well playing on the PS5 in 4K. I usually have to adjust my TV to “Dynamic” to brighten it up. But I’m about to buy a UB820 so this is great to know. Many thanks

@bbqboy175 you're welcome. Thanks for watching. Adjusting the hdr will keep the colors more true than using the dynamic setting

Do you have an aftermarket UB 9000 remote? Because my UB 9000 remote has an HDR button on it.

@matrixman7706 yes, i got it on Amazon. I like it better than the ub820 remote
