In their rendition of ‘Theme from Carmen Jones’ you will hear a very sensitive introduction featuring the mellow tones of the cello with answering phrases from the tenors in flowing freestyle. Panazz Players are gifted and skilled as they demonstrate throughout this signature work in which smooth rhythmic changes help to create an exciting performance full of musical surprises and nuances. Listen for the sound of turned sticks on the tenors - a more percussive attack than rubber tips - which occurs briefly during this performance, recorded on 28th May 1993 at the courtyard of St. Francois Girls’ College, just prior to the finals of the Pan Ramajay Competition of that year.
