@Jerry No. Most armies can win when played well in AoS, and most armies can put out the damage to kill a Megagargent in a turn. That means they don't care about impactful but overlooked decisions like positioning and knowing when to commit. Alwaysed loved giants in any media, just the concept of big stompy monstrous humanoids, or even just big monsters in general, has always been so cool to me. Even if I never make an army of them I'm definitely making a Frost Giant version of one of these boys at some point. Definitely think they could use a bit of spice on the tabletop, maybe beasts they subjugate or other monstrous forces you can take with them or even some more ranged options but as rightly pointed out sometimes you just want to walk up with 4 titans and smash things to the ground.

Not to mention just the idea of a wizard with 30-40 wounds is hilarious

The Aeolipile was an early Steam Engine designed around 100BCE-100CE in Alexandria and described by Vitruvius and Hero of Alexandria. It consisted of a sealed bronze vessel hooked with two pipes coming out the top leading to form the axis of a sphere. Said sphere had two (possibly more) nozzles on either side angled out on it’s central meridian. When a fire was lit under the Aeolipile, steam would come up the pipes, into the sphere and go out the nozzles spinning it around. While it worked, it was also impractical as anything other than a novelty. It was too fuel inefficient and the steam that it spewed out could be lethal if it was scaled up or the pressure increased. In some ways, the limited strength of bronze. The first practical steam engine was made about 17 centuries latter by Thomas Savery in 1698, a basic pumping device. Thomas Newcomen would develop a slightly better steam engine in 1712 which used a piston, using steam to push it up and cooling the water down with a spritz of cold water. It was still grossly inefficient and basically only useful for pumping out flooded coal mines. Between 1765 and 1776 Scottish inventor James Watt refined the design using reciprocating motions and high-pressure steam. The Watt Steam Engine would find uses in other areas such as factories and would soon be refined to be used on ships and to pull trains.

Thank you for including the bit about how the Aeolipile was essentially a dead end technology wise. While reports of people ALLEGEDLY making engines off of the design would occasionally pop up in the ensuing centuries, the basic problems of the damn thing essentially only having enough energy to power it's own movement and more or less being a water rocket means that it ain't a good thing to base your fantasy shit off of. That being said, I DID just have an idea for using an Aeoliple to cook food, which would certainly be an interesting though no doubt gimmicky use.

@@Lunch_Meat yeah the spiders are cool, I have some riders but I really need to expand my collection of them ( as well as some more squigs). Sadly FW got rid of all of the wacky models like the Trogg Hag which to this day was one of my favorite things I've painted and kitbashed other goofy stuff on. What armies do you currently collect?
@Lunch_Meat Жыл бұрын
@@josephskiles damn shame about those FW models. They do such great builds for these things. Currently I actually don't have an army. I use to play 40k orks and I was going to start a orc and gobbo army back before end times happened, but then life happened and I put all those things on the shelf. I've been itching to get back into it though and the gobs have always had my heart. I even played grot rebels in gorkamorka way back

In terms of the grand alliance of destruction the gargants have to be among my favorites. "OY! YOOS LOOKIN' AT ME?! I'S SMAH YOOS GOOD AND TAKE YER LOOT!"
@dank_smirk2ndchannel200 Жыл бұрын
Damn, I wanna start a SoB army made of nothing but Kraken-Eaters purely to play a game of dickish football with objectives. "Oh, you think you managed to get your slow army to an objective? Not today!" I then proceed to kick an objective to a second Kraken-Eater, who kicks it to a third, etc. A whole army of multi-story tall Mario Balotelis. It's pretty fitting considering the Son of Behemat's acronym.

If no one wants to play Blood Bowl, then just turn AoS into a game of one by force.

The best thing you can do is play the Shadow of The Colossus soundtrack during the game.

As someone who has built most of his armies second hand from flea markets and eBay, I almost never see these guys for sale or at a good deal. Anyone who has been collecting miniatures for a while can tell you about the time they found a box of space marines at goodwill for $3, but these guys just tend to stick with collectors who know their worth. Plus they're a pain to strip if you want to repaint them because you need to break apart each limb to fit in a jar of cleaner. On the bonus, you are going to get so many extra bits you can effectively kitbash another one or have some neat parts for terrain or kitbashing. Especially the older kits of smaller gargants.

It's a shame they didn't keep much of the old lore of being peaceful intelligent beings once upon a time. Miss that lore.

An army of giants also coincidentally has a giant price tag. Wouldn't be GW if it didn't.
