Tan Tan, female, was born on September 16, 1995, to wild panda parents, mom Dong Dong and dad Zhen Zhen. She’s the younger half-sister of San Diego Zoo’s Bai Yun, and the older half-sister of Zoo Atlanta’s Yang Yang/Jiu Jiu. Tan Tan’s been a resident at the Kobe Oji Zoo since July 16, 2000. Her male partner, Long Long, tragically died on September 9, 2010, when the zoo administered too much anesthesia during the extraction of his semen. They had two cubs together but both died.
