I love that you actually finished this project. I have very few people to talk Bergman with because so few people I know will watch his films. So after I watch one of his films, watching your videos is like discussing it with a couple friends. Thanks again! Stay safe.

This is exactly what we hoped for with this project. We are hardly film scholars, but our goal was to give people a virtual community to congregate in, and stoke a bigger conversation. - David

Wow I didn’t even realize how much I missed y’all! When I was in college I used to stay up late and watch Bergman movies and then get on KZbin and watch you talk about whatever movie I had just watched. You’re like long lost friends! Happy to see your faces :)

That's great to hear. We love knowing that people are supporting his films. Hopefully it'll help some of the lesser-seen ones get a proper release. (hint, hint, Criterion) - David

“Time warp” - indeed! But the time is what you make of it and viewing Bergmans provocative films and hearing your thoughts are a nice way to pass the time during the isolation. Looks like we may have more quarantine ahead, good time to settle down with a nice movie(s) Glad all is well with your team :-)

I only discovered your channel a few weeks ago but I have been enjoying your conversations a great deal. I've been watching Bergman for the past 8-10 months and have seen almost all of them. I am a bit tempted to watch some of them again just so that I can watch your comments video with the movie still fresh.

I'm not sure if you've seen Winter Light, but it's an especially controversial one of our videos. ;) -David

I watched all of Tarkovsky a year or two ago but I am so glad that I watched most of Bergman in the last few months and have even rewatched few in the last few days. Hands down he is my all time favorite filmmaker. Your channel is fantastic.

Big fan of Breaking Down Bergman. I bet both the Criterion Channel app and the Criterion collection of almost all of Bergman's movies in the one box set has increased the interest in Bergman and your own channel.

I would suggest Luis Bunuel if you two want another long project; or Robert Bresson if you would want a smaller filmography to analyse. Those are the only two directors I can think of who are equal in stature to Bergman.

Bonjour à vous deux depuis Paris ! Bergman et vos passionnantes conversations m'accompagnent toujours. Peut-être demain Tarkovski, Kubrick, Hitchcock ?

Hi there I really enjoyed watching your chats as I to work my way through bagman during the pandemic. I came to him as I think a lot of people did through Woody Allen and became slightly obsessed with him in my teens after seeing Annie Hall but hadn’t actually seen any of his films. I remember the first one I saw was in my 20s and it was cries and whispers! What a shock that was. I really wasn’t expecting that level of brutal honesty. Your comments are interesting about the Mitu movement and I’m sure that they would be seen differently. As for his personal life And relationshipswho knows ? As a filmmaker is he ever saying that this should happen? I think he’s basically just saying sometimes this happens. Surely a filmmaker should be allowed to show us the darker side of human nature without being seen to be endorsing it. Did any of the actresses feel Uncomfortable with what they were doing? All the actors in that case

Sorry I posted that without correcting my typos Or finishing! That all sounds a little critical whereas I really enjoyed all your analyses and mainly agreed with them. The only big disagreement I had was I loved Winter light. But then I also love Henry James ,Tarkovsky and Anton Bruckner so maybe notoriously slow moving things are my bag. Anyway well done and it was good to hear from you again after the fact. Scenes from a marriage ?top 10 films not to watch with your partner through the lockdown? It’s up there!

Shakespeare won't be touched by Me Too. So, the Bergman Canon will always remain the Gold Standard with Fellini, Kurusawa, Tarkovsky, Ray etc.
