I used:
• 1/2-in flat brush
• Long liner
• #8 filbert
• #8 bright
• #4 bright
• Chalk or pencil
Optional materials
• Matte Fluid Medium amzn.to/2Wq8tPk
• Gold leaf or gold paint
• Metallic or interference paints

I’m using Liquitex acrylic paint in the following colors:

This is an interesting idea for a painting Jane. I must say I enjoy your method of instruction - which is clear, audible and thoroughly instructive, with no annoying hysterical bantor with your husband and no personal stories and no endless cups of coffee or lemonade either. Many other You Tube artists engage in this without end, and sometimes I have to wonder if I am watching an art instructional video or listening to the travel and personal life story of the artist. Good grief!

I am so excited to try this. I recently painted my bedroom dark purple and white. For days I have been staring at this large canvas that I purchased to paint something on to put on the wall. & I think this is going to be it!! I think this will be my 5th or 6th painting tutorial I've done of yours. I feel like I have learned so much. So fingers 🤞attempting this on a canvas will go well for me. What a good idea! I had such fun doing this painting. I felt it taught me so much. Blending skills, glazing, mixing colours (yes I'm Canadian), practising lines and all this in a medium where you can't go wrong. I googled geodes, just like you said and bang tones of ideas. This is stunning Jane, I’d love to paint this for my daughter because her favourite colour is purple. I’m going to experiment mixing glitter and some mica into the paint and over it to get a iridescent and sparkly effect, I have some mica powders I use for mixed media projects and bought some budget eyeshadow to grind up and try out because I embrace any opportunity to be a mad scientist! I now have all of my supplies to start painting along with you and I’m so excited, your work is so inspiring and you’re a fabulous teacher, so calming and educational and you make me feel like I could paint anything you do, thank you! ❤️

So lovely Jane!! The gold leaf really added to an already beautiful painting! I used to have several pieces of purple amemythist that my biological father had found and gave me.. I don't know what happened to them over the years but they would have been great to have to use as either reference or to set out as decor with this painting.😊Looks very relaxing to paint too. I agree with you on the Fredrix canvas pad. I MUCH prefer painting on the canvas sheets as opposed to canvas boards. They are an economical choice for practice and for trying out a painting before committing it to a more expensive canvas. I love that product!

Wow! Listening to you talk about using matt medium, doing the cactus I tried it but found if I used too much it made the surface sticky. I used tiny tiny spots of water instead. That felt easier. oh! Just wondering do you think you could , maybe, talk more about values, tones and shades etc. Am pretty sure I'd not be the only one finding it interesting and useful. ❤
