I don't know bamboo has something special, something magical in how it sings 😆😊 it's almost an Ineffable quality of it producing sounds in the ways how bodily sensations move across our consciousness. so fluid, so rich in as my soul feels a breeze, my hands could touch, my eyes could see. But it's all happening in my ears. Magical isn't it?

His flute makes me think of Rabindranath Tagore. It wanders so gracefully through a peaceful world full of opportunities.

@@ramsamba59 People listen to all kinds of music and all great artists. All of them are unique. All are unparalleled But some are synonymous with a particular instrument. For the lay listener really fond of music any of the greats may seem to be the greatest depending on level of understanding and individual preference but for the initiated, the greatest flautist is Panna Babu. No ifs and buts. The tonal quality and the seamless note to note movement, the aesthetics - the whole package - is unmatched by any other artist. Pt. Chaurasia, Pt. Gour Goswami, Vijay Raghav Rao, Rajendra Prasanna and Raghunath Seth are all exceptional but Panna Babu's flute is just surreal! !

My explanation of the function of this raga: It tunes in with the listeners low emotional state and slowly lifts it up. Hence it is good for depressions.

This type of tonal quality of flute was made possible by that one and only Great flute Maestro late PANNALAL GHOSH.
@ramsamba593 жыл бұрын
to say "one and only GREAT flute Maestro" is incorrect, there are other equally great or even greater, like the super maestro Hariprasad Chaurasia.

Pannababu is greatest, other mentioned by you are popular. I am not driven by blind faith towards Pannababu, only have read and studied about him leads me to rebuke your comment. Hope you take my reply in stride.

Generally, flutists follow the vocal singers, but in contrast, for Pannalal-ji vocal singers learn and try to understand richness of any raag by listening to Pannalal-ji's rendering on flute !!

+Nick Thabit That is my Guruji, the late Pt. Devendra Murdeshwar, playing backup bansuri to Pannalalji on the recording. The technique is based on having a common understanding of the raga and of the general direction the master was taking in his development of it.
