When I hear the voice of pt. Vishnu daganvar ji I feel as if God is singing himself. It was very early stage of recording .it was very scars in those days. His voice got magical element in it. So sweet and àlwayes in well tuned .

The only thing,which I can say,I like about a Govt Organisation,it is the efforts of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, as it was known, in capturing the important phases and persons if India. Undoubtedly,it possesses the richest archival material in India,which is a valuable historical treasure trove and part of our heritage. Pandit Pakuskar's is one among them. Had it not for them,we would have lost their cherished memories once for all.

Pt.Vishnu digambar paluskar Born on 18th august in 1872 At belgaanv in kurundwaad( a provincial state) Mother' s name- gangadevi Father's name - digambr paluskar He was sent to MIRAJ ( a provincial state in Maharashtra) where he was looked after by the king of Miraj... Guru's name- baalkrishn bua ichalkaranjikar Paralyzed in 1930 Died on 21st August 1931 He was flabbergasted seeing the pitiable condition of musicians and music..He realized it when his guru was not invited in a formal assembly in Miraj..When he asked why his guruji was not invited. He came to lnowवो तो गवैये हैं , उन्हें क्यों बुलाया जाय! He was deeply baffled wd the reply. He at once determined to uplift the condition of music . In 1896 he left Miraj and roamed about the whole country . He performed in BADHODA..LAHORE..DELHI.......BHARATPUR.SRINAGAR.............GWALIOR and at many places and popularized music. He figured out if vulgar words might be omitted and they be replaced by devotional words, that will work upon alot. Written more than 50 books-bal sahitya..20 raagon me seedha pravesh Edited a journal- sangeetamrit pravah Founded the first music institute in lahore in 1901 on 5th May- Gandharv mahavidyalay Founded another institute in BOMBAY ..both institute collapsed/ shut - the latter one was shut due to rented premise.. Then he got allured by RAAM NAAM. And chanted all day long ' raghupti raghav raja ram' and garbed saffron attire and went to naasik and founded RAM NAM ASHRAM He nurtured many disciples under vadic parampara.. His famous disciples are- PT. OMKARNATH THAKUR PT. V.A.KASHALKAR Pt.V.A.THAKAR PT.V.A.PATVARDHAN PT.V.N.DEVDHAR He gave birth 12 offsprings Among them only 1 survived. That is Dattatrey vishnu paluskar. D V plskr also passed away at the age of 35 in 1955

An excellent documentation but a big mistake in the documentary is that they have used Audio Recordings of Son Pt. DV Paluskar at all the places, and not of the father Pt. Vishnu Digambar Paluskar, who actually is the subject of the documentary... The documentary should have had, atleast a clarification/note on this..

The solo singer is not DV Paluskar. As the closing credits clearly mention, it is Sharad Sathe. Sathe is himself a student of DV Paluskar. Also, your comment seems odd to me. Did you think that the little boy in the opening scenes was actually Paluskar? And if you saw a documentary on Tansen, would you assume that the music in it was sung by Tansen himself?

After the fall of Thanjavur Kingdom South Indian Music, the original ancient Music of Bharath was orphaned! The only king who did something after the fall of Thanjavur , did encourage this music was Mysore Maharaja, who himself was great Sanskrit scholar and composed many songs. Travancore kingdom. But a great musician like Harikesanallur Muthayya Bhagavathar was insulted according to a biographer in a recently published book titled Carnatic Summer.and curtly dismissed him from the Royal service, because he differed about a raga! What a shame?
