Why are you interested in the intercepts? I thought the benefits of fixed effects (within) regression is mostly that it allows for a causal interpretation of coefficients of time varying covariates? I don't understand how the intercepts of the individual firms are useful? E.g. imagine there aren't ten firms but 10000 individuals.

It depends on the researcher and what story you wish to tell.
