If slavery began in 1619 here in the USA. Saying blacks were slaves for 400 years would mean that slavery not only is still going on but the 400th year mark is 2019. Simple math 1619+400=2019. Now as history tells us slavery here in the Usa was abolished in 1865 which would mean we have chosen to be slaves since then. One possible reason why slave rebellions were more successful in the islands is because the 13 Colonies comprised a larger territory and blacks were split up and spread out far away from eachother. Also White population had far greater numbers and firearms etc. On the islands, I know in Haiti for example the slaves outnumbered the slave-owners. Could be food for thought.
