Look for some of the 'nymph' types as well, black and other colours. Anything that looks 'buggy'/realistic. Didn't show them on this video but they're dynamite up here. Add some scent and they'll really hang on. Thanks for watching and commenting! Rick

So you are not using a hook with the jig head. Does that affect the fish? Like the fish can see the hook and not want to eat it but seeing that there is no hook on the jig they are comfortable to go at it ?

No effect really. They still hit the jig owing to the movement of the head, and I've caught fish this way. Still a better plan to use a dressed version, in the long run.

Great video as usual , my weapon of choice is gulp ice minnow ,the scent taste and texture will get them, I just cast and let it slowly drift towards me on the bank the panfish nail it.

You're right, fantastic bait!. They're a killer for Perch on Lake Simcoe. I use Berkley products in all my underwater filming, with few exceptions. No they're not a sponsor, they just work that well.

@@thefish-eyeview7733 Rick, I have a question regarding salmon when they stage and move up the rivers do they hug the bottom /follow the bottom or do they suspend near the surface? I feel that when anglers are targeting salmon from the jetty near the river mouth they often use moon shine lures that can't fish the bottom effectively, Using big bladelures such as steelshad xxl but with night glow colour might be a better tactic or a rattle bait such as JB rattler.(musky lure) Would like to know your opinion.

@@MrSurfangler I believe they do move up river near bottom. I know when they're staging, and it's dry stable weather, they actually lie belly to bottom during the day, with only a few moving around, waiting for rain. Those are the ones you catch with red inflamed bellies, sometimes with mud still stuck on. But from the evening to early mornings they move, with many near the surface (you see them rolling). I do most of my fishing now at night with glow in the dark lures. - FUN! And less Guys. And you don't need to run it deep. I really like the big jointed chartreuse Rapala during evening/morning or cloudy days. At night I have a few which I've repainted with hobby shop, glow-in-the dark paint (the good stuff). Off the shelf glow in the dark Cleos work but you need to recharge them all the time. Any of the wobbling rattle baits will work the same way. There's a lot of room to experiment. In Port Hope many fish suspend and are typically caught 1/2 way down all day long, mostly on dyed chunks of skein under a float - DEADLY! Can't lure toss in the harbour due to the army of bottom fishermen (marshmallows! - eh gad!!). Probably why they suspend. Check out the channel 'Pump Knows Fishing'. He's a master at shoreline Salmon.

@@thefish-eyeview7733 , I know Pump /Ron and have met him personally. Very helpful guy indeed. I was thinking of using these 1oz blade baits as they have vibrations,flash , something other angliners don't use . They hold the bottom well and cast like a bullet with all the wind and rain during Salmon staging something streamlined is great. I was also thinking of throwing some saltwater x-rap deep lures like Xrap magnum in UV pink just to see how they react
