There was a question about these kits not being on the website. I just looked and you want to look at kits CST-830 and CST-930

I'm a ASPIRING Luther an bought a few different kits, from different companies.... Different prices ranges, some are better than others. But those Pango kits very nice!!! Gotta try one. I've been buying old junk guitars of various conditions to practice on fixing, then thought, hey let's build for scratch?!! But thought I'd better start with kits an fine tune talents, or lack of?! Haha 1st one I'm having finishing issues, "said" flame top, but in prep-sandinig, it was either the world's thinnest veneer, or silk screened?! Cuz in no time with VERY LITTLE sanding I'm threw it, an the "dust" was almost joint compound/ drywall consistency! An way to verify it's REALLY veneer?!!! Thanks for the videos, an knowledge!!! I'll prolly bug you with more dumb question?!!! Haha Thank you!!! Keep it up!
@billsguitargarage3 ай бұрын
yeah, veneers can be a real pain to work with when sanding back.
@whyis45stillalive3 ай бұрын
@@donclark3643 Look at the sides of the pickup cavities. You should be able to tell how thick the veneer is. Sometimes it’s hard to see. Especially if it’s paper thin. That should still be enough evidence, in itself.
@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams3 ай бұрын
They look like great quality kits, the tops should look very nice with some finish on them. Looking forward to see how they come together.
@billsguitargarage3 ай бұрын
Yeah, trying to decide on a finish now. Oil, Satin, or Gloss. Not sure yet.

I had them make a custom body for me based on their Steinberger GM2T kit. I wanted the same body but routed for a Floyd Rose. I also wanted them to paint it white and give it black binding. I told them I needed the tremolo post holes drilled 74mm apart. They sent me a bare wood body with white binding and no holes drilled. I paid $55 for that extra work and they only refunded me $35. Later on, they emailed me saying if I buy 3 more kits and do reviews, they'll send me a free kit. Not worth it.

Sorry to hear that. Definitely not the experience you want to have.

Them brothers gonna work you to death with all these builds haha. At this pace you will need a second garage to store em all. I cant wait to see those tops. they look amazing.. Also.. was that second kit some sort of upgrade? seems like it had slightly higher quality components and work. that head stock looks much better on that one and the pickups seem more powerful.
@billsguitargarage3 ай бұрын
The hardware pack for both guitars were the same. I'd say both kits are on par with each other.

I still can't wait to see the quilt under color!!! I have them quoting me on a custom neck-through Strat body w/ a battery box. I want to try my own build with a C Jacobs spalted maple top and EMG JMaster pickups with a Hipshot hardtail bridge. Might go lime green candy on the back and sides...

Have you had much success with talking to them. I have asked 3 times what is the measurement for the neck pocket on the Moon Base Bass. Every response has been, Yes we have the kit in stock.

@@blackdogsheep5631 My communications with them have been good. Are you looking to put a different neck in the bass?
@blackdogsheep56312 ай бұрын
@@billsguitargarage No I'm just trying to find someone that can make a 60mm neck heal neck without running into the communication problem that I have run into. When a Chinese company says that we can custom make and I get the wrong thing. I have tried this with two other companies and can't get an order right. This way I can just say give me 5 necks from that bass.
@bigkahuna1002 ай бұрын
@@blackdogsheep5631 I haven't had any issues with the communication. Just the occasional delay or having to be very specific, but that's all.

Any idea if they include coil splits for some of their kits? Like the PRS style ones?
@billsguitargarage3 ай бұрын
All of the pickups I have gotten with the kits are standard 2 connector wire. I'd recommend contacting them to see if they have pickups with 4 lead connectors.
@donclark36433 ай бұрын
Yeah from the side it VERY THIN!!! You can definitely tell there's another "later" of something there.... Jus not buying the "flamed maple veneer" part.... haha
@billsguitargarage3 ай бұрын
It is thin, but that is basically the definition of veneer. It is right at about 1/32" thick which is normal. It is a solid mahogany body with a flame maple veneer. the other is the same except it has a quilt veneer.
@donclark36433 ай бұрын
@@billsguitargarage I'll have to see if I can mic. It? It's REALLY thin!!! Piece of paper thin.im guessing? An like I said it sure looked more like plaster dust, not wood... haha I'll see if I can investigate it better? Thanks again!

Is it all mahogany, or is there a plain maple cap under the veneer?

So their multiply binding...is it real? Or just single ply with a multiply decal on the body and neck? I've e-mailed them with a few other questions but have yet to year back...but the binding I've very curious about because I've also looked into precision guitars custom kits and those guys are are asking for $250 JUST for head and body multiply and single ply on the neck... BTW: absolutely love your builds and detailed videos you are a wealth of good knowledge so thank you for posting your builds!!!

I really like them. Nice to see something a bit different than traditional block inlays. Going with a green finish on the body and neck to match the inlays.

@@billsguitargarage If the unglued neck won’t support the body, I don’t want it.
@billsguitargarage3 ай бұрын
@@whyis45stillalive Not true, but not going to argue the point. The neck have been glued in and they are solidly glued in. Take a look at some other videos here of builders build a gibson style guitar with a neck tenon. You'll find that the majority of them slip right in. If the neck joint is so snug that it will support the quitar body, you run into the issue of it pushing out too much glue and thus resulting in a poor glue joint. I do appreciate you stopping by the channel.
