This obscure food-themed platformer is a fantastic example of the craftsmanship that sprang from the NES's later years, and it's a Kenji Eno game (!!). Crazy, right?
@rjcupid2 жыл бұрын
“Craftsmanship” is the perfect word to describe this game. It is like a work of art created with a great deal of attention to detail and care. Quality over quantity.

Sometimes you would go to the Rental store late, when all the games were gone and have to choose from what was left. This was one such game and proved sometimes it was ok to get there late.

I remember buying this game back when FuncoLand was around. Loved it so much and to this day it’s still one of my favorite games on the Nintendo Entertainment System. I even named my black cat Cookie after the chef from this game. An absolute gem of a game.

I love Panic Restaurant. Beyond being an awesome game it is the “crown jewel” of my NES collection. Taito made such incredible NES games at the end of its lifespan. The song that starts at 10:55 is one of my favourite songs of the era.

That music is by Kenji Eno, no wonder it's one of the stand out tracks. Kenji Eno not only did some of the music for the game, but he was also the creative designer & wrote the story.
@edwardgaines65617 ай бұрын
@@timmadone8930Wrote the story? Well the game is a bit short, but yes the music is very good. Almost SUNSOFT good!
@timmadone89307 ай бұрын
@@edwardgaines6561 Yes, the code for the original end credits is in the game & can be hacked. In the original end credits Kenji Eno gets full credit for all his involvement in the game. Not sure why the end credits were changed, but it could be because at the very end Kenji Eno said "Thanks for playing, God bless everyone".

Picked this one up a couple years ago. A lot of personality and great animations in this one. The music is great also, with the level 3 music always sounding like something out of Super Mario Land for Game Boy to me.

Drove me nuts that this was featured in Nintendo Power but was released late into the NES's life cycle so it wasn't available seemingly anywhere for rent (us late 80s/early 90's kids didn't know about NES games being manufactured in smaller and smaller quantities). The magazine made it look so good (and it is!) but i didn't get to play it until years later via emulation.

Same went for me. I never saw this at a store or a rental shop, and it wasn't for a lack of looking, like with so many others.

Very interesting, I've seen this cult classic several times before somewhere but I've never known much about it. The art style alone separates it from other NES games. So much personality and charm! I'm starting to think this was where Pizza Tower took some of its inspiration lol.
