Another great video that shows Avianca losing the plot, at least in the meal department. Avianca are getting confusing now. I was looking to book MDE to CTG. No business fares anymore, but if you pay the highest economy offering then you can choose - what looks exactly like the old business class seats. Lounge access is now sold. Its meant to be on discount (good luck getting any take up at the non discounted price). Mind you, at least for a temporary period Bancolombia Amex Platinum seem to be including lounge access for the cardholder as a freebie.If Avianca think this mess is a strategy or a way to encourage brand loyalty they may be in for a rude awakening . And then they are merging with Viva the low cost airline and have an alliance (or something) with GOL. My head hurts. Perhaps time for LAN to increase their Colombian presence - but looking at their weird schedule from CTG to MDE my head hurts even more.

In conclusion, Avianca is not worth the money, but sad to see how did they decrease the service and using the covid as an excuse for all. I still remember when the airline had better service at the beginning of 2019, good times… by the way, great video!

It's such a shame because Avianca has the best captain voices in all of aviation. The only thing that he forgot to mention was the local time of landing. I like it when something along the lines is said: "For your information the local time in San Jose, Costa Rica is 5:54 am. This is another Avianca flight operated on time and we hope to serve you again in the near future." Nevertheless, the food is extremely lackluster and ridiculous for being business class. Terrible service all around. It's really sad what has become of Avianca.

Hola. Yo creo que lo que pasó con Avianca es que el servicio de Colombia, España y Reino Unido no desmejoro mucho. Creo que se debe a que la aerolínea se la vendieron a extranjeros que les vale lo que pensemos. Ojalá eso cambie y Avianca vuelva a su nivel pre pandemia y mucho antes. También eliminaron rutas porque no generan dinero y así aeropuertos como el de Manizales y Armenia quedaron sin el servicio.

Avianca has lowered its quality a lot since it declared bankruptcy, the food is not good and the connections are fatal, a few years ago I changed to Copa Airlines and the service is different. Cheers and welcome to Costa Rica!!!

I wouldn't say its a poor man business class, or maybe I just overpaid and you are absolutely right. Just flew business Aug 2022 787 dreamliner from Bogota to Los Angeles just over a 7 hour flight. No hot meal. Same exact box lunch as economy. No wine or beer. No pillow or blanket offered/available. Extremely sad. Food just horrible. My opinion probably not worth the upgrade. Only positive to say is that the seating chair can completely lie flat so that was nice. Otherwise, service and food was no existence or borderline same or worst as economy (my friend in economy got the same exact cold sandwich, snack, water actually before me, I was seated in 7A last row of business class he was in 12F window seat economy). Unless you want the extra leg room definitely worth the exuberant upgrade for something similar for economy.

Frequent flyers will tell you that even in their heydays Latin American airlines were not on the same level as the best airlines in the rest of the world like KLM, Lufthansa, Japan Airlines, etc. Even so, the service of regional Latin American airlines (such as Avianca -- Colombia's flag carrier since 1919, one of the oldest in the world) has been in decline for several years to the point that they are now a mere shadow of its best days of the past. This is especially noticeable in their pre-flight and in-flight service, where they resemble what would be considered a budget airline elsewhere, although I'll admit that certain budget airlines I've flown offer excellent service (Scoot, JetStair Airways, Peach, AirAsia, VietJet Air, Nok Air, etc.), much better than what Avianca offers on this flight.

Avianca should not even dare to sell that as a Business or Premium class under any circumstances while offering such a pathetic meal service. Cannot even imagine what they served in economy class . Avianca, thumbs DOWN. The seat is not even a flat bed, just a cheap recliner.

En pocas palabras yo prefiero mil veces a Iberia que Avianca porque Avianca te cobra incluso la maleta de mano incluso la comida pero yo por eso prefiero a Iberia que no te cobra nada porque ya todo viene incluido 😊
