60 years ago, I sat in church in Staten Island, NY and heard my cousin, Kenneth Vanderbilt, a golden-voiced tenor sing this at midnight mass. It is very difficult not to weep for the loss of his talent and the loss of him from mental illness. He was a linguist, a musician, an operatic tenor, and terribly ill. He studied opera; it was his life. He never got help for his illness, or his multiple personalities, and died a few years ago on the streets, beaten unrecognizably. He was older than I. I looked up to him always for his intelligence and his talents. Thank you, Il Volo. Many blessings at Christmas and all year through, for all your lives.
