We were in Blackpool in 1975 on holiday, I was 14. The sun was shining on the sea and we were loitering by the sea wall, myself and my best friend, and I was so happy! We took a tiny radio around with us and this played all the time, it was great! 😅

I heard this in 1975 on the beach at Rhyl were the Radio 1 roadshow were playing it; I decided then that I would go there one day-- We went there last year on a 14 day cruise that started/finished in Barbados. We have obviously re-booked for next year as it was that good.

When working in Northern Ireland (year 2000) I was contemplating where to take my wife on our 25th wedding anniversary when this song came on the radio which gave me an the idea, then when I got home out shopping I passed the travel agents and spotted "Stay and Cruise Barbados" so it was no contest, went in and booked it, stay 3 days in Sam Lords Castle, a week cruise up to San Juan, Puerto Rico then back to Barbados via various islands spending a day in each. Then another 4 days at Sam Lords Castle, all inclusive. What a holiday, will have to go back someday, loved it. This song brings back so many memories.

I really liked this song back in 1975. I bought the LP. Many years as a teacher my student loved the Vengaboys song "We are gong to Ibiza". I told them once: "Now I am going to play on of my favourite song from my youth". And did it and they were very surprised, they didn't know it was a cover.

A good "get you in the mood" for your holiday song. I would have to swap Barbados though for "Sunny Mablethorpe" (It's usually cold)! For those who don't know it's an East coast resort here in the UK. Been to the port of Barbados though, a 9 hour flight on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, a beautiful aircraft, to board a cruise ship on a Caribbean/Mediterranean cruise on our honeymoon. 7 whole days at sea once we left the Caribbean to get to Malaga. Ran up a £1400 medical bill on the ship due to sea sickness! Never again, I swear. Fortunately I was insured
