You can always tell when old commercials are pulled from sporting events: LOTS OF TIRE commercials.

WOW!!! Channel 2 New York from 1975!!! I wasn't even three years old yet at the time! (I was born on July 5.) Very weird game show themed commercial for the AMC Gremlin. Very nice CH2NY still photo IDs, including those two nice gentlemen & that nice elderly boat captain. Oh, Morgan Freeman was pretty good in that Sure deodorant commercial. Oh, that Special Olympics PSA was lovely! Thanks so much for putting this up. It's great!

This was the year the Golden State Warriors pulled off the upset, beating the Bullets in the NBA Finals to win their first NBA Championship.
@pannoni8449 Жыл бұрын
Even though Washington lost, they still had two more Finals appearances later in the '70s, including a title. The difference is that the now Wizards are still a joke today, and perhaps best known for being Michael Jordan's garbage time team, while the Warriors are one of the tentpole franchises of today's NBA, with a tentpole superstar leading the way.
@jeffbowen2608 Жыл бұрын
@@pannoni8449 no one-even in the Bay Area-thought the Warriors would even get to the Finals that year. If I remember right, they couldn’t even play some of the Final games in the Warriors’ home arena because the building had been double-booked. So, for the Warriors to win the title was, for its time, one of the great upsets in sports history. Even with that title, NBA Basketball in Northern California was still very much an outpost & this region truly did not become relevant until the late 80s into the 90s.

@mrgisob123 can you imagine, this little podunk team that started in Buffalo, moved out West to San Diego to wallow in obscurity, then toiled in anonymity in LA. Now, all these years later, the LA Clippers are going to get their own brand new palace in Inglewood, the Intuit Dome. They’ve come a looong way, baby…

I'm from Buffalo but wasn't born until well after the Braves became the Clippers so it's rather weird to think that there was once an NBA team here that seemed to do pretty well.

What? I was 9 in 1975. My dad and other men I remember used Johnsons Baby Shampoo. Why? When you work 500+ feet up as an Ironworker and work, pollution are a daily thing, a non-irriatating shampoo is a luxury. Tons of hardworking men and women used Johnsons Baby Shampoo back then and today.
