Panoramic Photos with the DJI Mavic Mini

One feature that a lot of people were looking for in the DJI FLY APP was the ability to shoot automated panoramic photos. This was a feature on the Mavic Pro, Phantom and Inspire line-ups but unfortunately did not make its way over to the Mavic Mini. In this video, I walk you through how I go about manually shooting panoramic photos using the DJI Mavic Mini. I also show you how I edit and merge the photos using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

I used to do this type of thing with lesser cameras years ago. I've ordered a mini yesterday and am absorbing as much as I can. I'd never thought of using a drone to do this. Love the rest of your content too thanks! Now can't wait for my mini to arrive!

Hey Aldryn, while editing the pic it would have been way better to put the pic on full screen and you in the box!

It wouldn't. In order to follow what he's doing you need to be able to see the entire photo. If he flipped it the small box would be covering about 20%of the screen

Thanks for this video! I wasn't sure how to do this and with your help I got some amazing shots this weekend. Well worth the trouble. (And Lightroom is surprisingly good at figuring out how to stitch the shots together though you have to fiddle with which projection styles to get it to look "best".)

Hey great vid thanks for the tutorial 😁 Just a thought.. instead of rotating and tilting the gimbal on the the mini could you have strafed sideways and changed your elevation for more accurate shots to eliminate the warping pre-merge? I know the mini holds its position very well that's all 😁

I use free Microsoft Image Composite Editor to stitch photos together. It's stupid simple and it lets you do advanced stuff. I have created images greater than 100 megapixel. It can create panoramas from video.

I have Lightroom and Photo Shop For my still photography... does anyone Know if MS Image Composite Editor is easier to use? I find LR And PS difficult if you don’t use it weekly.

I like it as well. The new version now does a pano from video. In C mode, spin around three times stopping only to change the angle of the camera. That will give you an amazing 360.

I have always been a video guy, and have never done any panoramic photos before. You have tempted me to maybe attempt this. BUT before I attempt this with the Mini. I will first use my Mavic Pro or Mavic 2 Pro to automate the photo taking, then maybe after some practice this way, take the Mini out and try it. Great tutorial video. Thanks for sharing.

amazing tutorial, I was on the fence about buying the Mini primarily for photography and your tutorial finally convinced me...btw, a wedding photographer Ryan Brenizer does this with portraits (also called the Brenizer method) to achieve some rather interesting results

Aldryn, please keep this post production instructions coming, and perhaps offer a course on-site for live questions. Getting large prints for the wall is harder than I, most people, imagine. Wondering what colour-space that you edit in for your print lab, and how you calibrate your monitor for print work, print proofing etc. D55, D65, sRGB, ?? Thanks for all !!

i'm a 360 photographer and ordered a Mavic Mini for 360 aerial pics. for now i'm gonna merge everything manually, but I hope they would add the auto feature in the future. Not to have an already ready photo, but it'll shoot enought pics automatically so i can work on them manually later. at least i'd need less time than shooting manually and for sure i'd not need to take 45 pics for a spherical pic.
