Hershey Park's Steam Engine | The Dry Gulch Railroad

Did you know that Hershey Park had a steam train? I personally did not and was pleasantly surprised on a recent visit, and decided to do a little bit of railfanning. While it's not a full-sized locomotive, this is actually a real steam locomotive that the park operates for their Dry Gulch Railroad attraction. It was quite a unique little locomotive to witness, and despite its size also boasted a rather large 3 chime whistle.

That's a really nice little steam loco and railroad! I don't recall if I had seen that before. I only went to Hershey one time in 1998, and all I remember is the park being so crowded it was hard to even walk around. I did get on all the roller coasters once each, but spent the majority of the day waiting in line for them. If I ever go again though, I'll be sure to check this out. And wouldn't that be a fun summer job to have, operating it?!

Yeah I’ve been there two times recently for school functions, and both days it was pretty darn full. Still got these clips though! And yes, if it wasn’t so far away I think that would be my summer job lol

@@PANortheasternRailfan yeah, there's a few amusement park trains I'd love to get a job operating, but most are too far from home. The other was actually going to be the next place I applied to if RBMN had turned me down lol!

I’m guessing oil since I never caught them shoveling coal and there was no coal storage anywhere
