Pansipit River, Lemery, Batangas

The deepening of the channel as well as the clearing of water hyacinths were undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) thru the Bureau of Equipment of the Central Office, Equipment Management Division of DPWH Region IV-A, and Batangas 1st District Engineering Office in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Lemery, Batangas. The operation used an amphibious excavator and a trash skimmer to restore the river’s navigable condition and to allow the fluvial parade of the Virgin Mary. This holy activity has not been conducted for almost a decade due to heavy siltation and build of sediments and garbage in the stream.
