The Pantanal is on my list of places to visit. It didn't even occur to me until now to look into snorkelling opportunities.

Thank you for the video! Everything is at the highest level-an excellent description of the biotope and fish. The description of aquatic plants is missing.

Brown stem is Ceratophyllum. Probably C. submersum. Very long stem with bright green leaves is Eichhornia azurea (possibly heterosperma). Submersed water lily might be Nymphaea gardneriana. Best guesses from what I can see.

Mesmerising, I went into a trance with that soundtrack. It's made me appreciate that my aquarium is far too tidy! More leaf litter, more shade and larger shoals of tetras. Was the wonderful red plant Cabomba furcata? Thank you so much.

@@richardwebb9532 that's interesting! I found that when I put it under aquarium lights in Brazil, it went green...I find this is the same with the Ludwigia inclinata we have there and with the Myriophyllum aquaticum...I wonder why the SA stuff is different!

@@biotopia5319 perhaps iron content in the water? If I want vivid reds, I add an iron supplement.... Our local dog-park has a few dams overrun with hornwort too, and it's all green, no red.....
@biotopia53193 жыл бұрын
@@richardwebb9532 That's possible, I don't know what the iron content is here...this region is not known for it's metals but it might be linked to a number of factors. I one bought Ceratophyllum 'Mexico Red' and within days of putting it in my tank in the UK, it turned green...so I'm not sure!
Namaste Biotopia. Is there any chance to encounter caimans during the snorkeling?

@biotopia53195 жыл бұрын
Adrian, depending on the species, it's perfectly possible to give them a suitable, healthy home, but it takes research and care to make sure that everything is appropriate. But of course there are many species that shouldn't be kept in aquaria :)
@milica16364 жыл бұрын
Most of the fish in the aquarum trade are bred in captivity, either on fish farms or in hobyist aquariums. If a fish shows natural colors and reproduce, it is perfectly happy.
@thrallingFRglory4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I totally get what you're saying. I've already dismantled my 3 tanks. It was a very difficult decision but I just couldn't reconcile my love for the natural world with fishkeeping. I might just go back and get a super small aquascape only tank in the future but I'm done with keeping fish just for the sake my viewing pleasure.
@memeboi60172 жыл бұрын
@@thrallingFRglory Why, these fish provided that they are not wild caught have no idea what the wild looks like, and life without fear of predation is practically bliss for small fish.
