I liked Ratt's debut EP and Out of the Cellar. Sure, early Pantera were a sight heavier than your examples, but their lyrics were considerably more insipid. This is coming from a fan of the Terry Glaze period, though, admittedly, I was a 16 year old kid in Longview, TX, happy to be one of the few who had the albums of a local band heard on national radio (Metal Shop), a band I knew were going to be big. What I didn't know was they had only to ditch Terry to do so.

While people talk about copyright law as if content creators will starve if people rip them off without paying their dues, I was a fan of this song before I ever heard it thanks to the first mission in Doom. Doom even ripped off so much metal at once that any one level might contain bits of 5 different songs in its composition. It only made me enjoy the source material rather than potentially dismissing it as fast angry noise.

I can forgive Pantera for putting their early stuff on the back burner in the 90's, but when they the early stuff got recognized and approved by fans on the internet within the later years, and continue not to release them, there is no excuse! Reissuing these albums sounds much better than bringing Pantera back without the Abbott brothers, like Rex and Phil did with non-Pantera members! If they are not going to reissue them, that's their lost (when it comes to profit wise), because i will always listen to them more than their later stuff regardless!
