As a professional detailer, I’ve owned the MTM for nearly 5 years. It just recently started to fail after heavy usage 5-6 days a week during that time. The foam has become horribly runny. Thorough cleaning has not resolved the issue. I think the salt in my softened water has corroded the metal surfaces within. Extremely happy with the product! In its prime, the MTM gave me years of thick and rich foam. Would definitely buy again!!

To be fair, the way you made your passes with the Griot over lapped more and you did more passes. I still think the foam was thicker from the initial front panel spray and liked the design. I noticed on Amazon, (2) reviewers stated they had issues after a month and even rinsing and got no reply from Griot's customer svc! I personally have the Chemical Guys cannon and like it, but the downfall on Chemical guys, as of June '21 is they don't sell any spare bottles! So if you crack the thinner walled bottle, its done! I'm so glad you covered the quality of the water and watched your water softener review! I recently installed both a whole home softener (potassium chloride used) and also installed a Dionized Water (D.I.) for rinsing. I couldn't beleive how much thicker the foam was, even with a more than capable 2700psi gas pressure washer! I'm curious and will have to see how the foam comes out with the DI water. I was told CR Spotless owner (Chuck I beleive) that you can't use soft water as it will prematurely use the one resin (I think it was the (cat-ion) leaving the an-ion and that its better to use hard water. With this being said, Chuck was willing once I used up the initial resin to experiment with dual cat-ion resin cartridges but was told it would leave a fishy smell! I said, nope not gonna deal with it... One other thing not covered, but confirmed the MJJC Gen2 has the silicone tube with the weighted ball as well! Anyway, I digressed a bit but excellent video as always!

Great Video and in-depth review. I am leaning towards MJJC because I feel like it is the quickest to change the orifice - only need screw driver, price is competitive as well. Black and red combination for the fan adjustment also appealing. Only downside - it is little bulky.

i purchased griots garage car wash soap pink one for 3 years, i do not reccomend griots. its very jelly like and will not make the right amount of foam for use in cannon, i had to use 1 entire bottle just to clean my engine, the foam dries very quickly and will not resist water spots on hot days, this is why i only reccomend the newest ceramic shampoos and will reccomend getting a cannon , i ended up using alot of griots garage to get the right foam on the first wash and then dumping it all out each time i finished one side of the car "cause i never used the pre wash cannon " before i began cleaning car. Having used griots garage car wash bottle after bottle i was even more dissapointed, it doesnt last more than 3 days clean, it picks up Dust like Mad, maybe the highway vehicles are too dirty and they transfer all the dirt to mines while on the road. so i can Not reccomend buying griots, the smell is not that great it smells like bubble gum for floor cleaning, iam sure there are many better buble gums smell out there. The only thing i liked about griots garage car wash soap is that it worked with my meguiars paste wax, so griots adds an extra layer of reflection to my car, IT WILL NOT GIVE IT DEPTH OR COLOR AND EVEN IF IT DOES its very superficial and will only last about 14 hours, oh and when it rains The rain will strip away all magick of griots garage. so save money get a foam cannon, pre wash it and start using ceramic wax and ceramic everything. Good luck!

No. Foam cannons are to be used with pressure washers. If you only have a garden hose, you can get a foam gun. Don’t expect the same level of foam output though, for obvious reasons. Just noting some inconsistencies in your testing: 1. You didn't set a defined width of spray for all the cannons. Obviously the narrower the stream out of the cannon the thicker the foam is going to be and if it's wider the thinner the coating. I noticed on the MTM you had it set to a pretty wide setting causing it to be more runny. Griots you kept consistent throughout. Same with the CGBM you more than doubled the width of it about 6 seconds into the test. It was looking on par with the MTM with the narrower width but then you doubled it causing less foam in the application areas. 2. The path and speed of the application needs to be a bit more consistent. I personally use the MJJC and I love that one. Best bang for the buck. Probably going to find another container that has a better grip handle like the MTM. Otherwise good review!

@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын
Thanks Niko! Foam cannons can only be used with a pressure washer. If you only have a garden hose, you can use a foam gun. They won't produce as much foam as a foam cannon + pressure washer setup, but it's still a good alternative. I made a video comparing a foam gun to a foam cannon here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHuznGukh518mJI
@jrpesky
@jrpesky 2 жыл бұрын
What I see in all of them is that if you put on too much foam it runs off quicker. The thicker it is the faster it runs off. Which kind of skews the comparisons in the test. Certain parts get hit once some twice some parts three times. I think one pass down the center of the car at the same pace would have shown a better comparison. But thanks for taking the time to do the testing.

I'm curious about the PSI and GPM of your pressure washer, because I found that the pre installed nozzel for the MTM PF 22.2 was not well matched to my pressure washer and caused a runnier foam, but it came with a 1.1mm nozzle that was a better match

I wouldn't trade my MTM for anything, like you said the main issue is the small opening on the bottle, but what I do to remedy this is I use a measuring cup and premix my soap with water. I get a more acurate mix that way because I also find the numbers difficult to read on the bottle itself.

@PanTheOrganizer

I don't know that specific pressure washer. You need to check if it has a standard 1/4 inch quick connect type of connection. Often, Karcher pressure washers (like the K series, K2, K3, K4 and K5) have proprietary Karcher connectors, bayonnet style, and need an adapter to attach things like foam cannons. As far as snow foams, I use many as this is a detailing channel, and I test things all the time. But watch my latest car detailing awards video for my top picks (and links will be in the description of that video if you want to buy some things, like in all my videos): kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYPapK2krMuHrac

Seems to me that after using the first one, the foam ran off the car quicker with each of the subsequent spray guns tested. Is it possible that the foam left a layer of coating on the car, which led subsequent foam coatings to run off quicker? I'm also not sure of the value of the test on a clean car. Surely the most important thing is not how thick the foam is, but how well it removes the dirt?
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 2 жыл бұрын
No that had no effect on the testing. Also, this was not a test showing the cleaning power of the snow foam. This was simply to show the foaming capabilities of each foam cannon. Two VERY different things. Many snow foams are pH neutral and are just meant to lift loose dirt and add lubrication, not actually clean the surface. Then you have some snow foams higher in pH with more cleaning capabilities for road grime and traffic film. For regular washes, a neutral snow foam will do. For a deeper cleaning and maintenance wash, many like to use more alkaline snow foams. I spoke about snow foams and the ones that have actual cleaning capabilities in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpuYlX2Lgp15mJY

What's the difference between your pressure washer gun and wand setup and the one that comes with the Kransle pressure washer?
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын
The Mosmatic is on another level for build quality and quality materials, it has a swivel function, and the fact it's much more compact in size. The stock gun and wand from Kranzle are bulky and heavy. The water line connection point on the Kranzle wand is in front of the trigger, which isn't ideal in my opinion. Also, the Mosmatic equipment has quick connect type connectors, for easy switching from short gun to long gun or adding a foam cannon. Way more practical. Once you use the Mosmatic stuff, you can't go back.

would be nice to know what the actual dilution and GPM are coming out of the cannon. Full open? Full closed? Half open? Then do another test with corrected dilution!
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 3 жыл бұрын
I spoke about this in the video. I used an 8:1 dilution ratio (3 oz of snow foam and 24 oz of water in each foam cannon). And all the foam cannons were obviously set at maximum product intake (the setting that produces the thickest foam). Why would you not use the max foam setting? And my pressure washer is a Kranzle 1122TST that pumps out 2.1gpm of water and I set it at 1000-1100 psi to wash cars. I also have a water softener system at home. All the tests were done using the same variables under the same conditions, on the same day, same car Ryan. Even though this is by no means a "scientific test" this is as good as it gets for a real world test in my opinion. People want to dilute their soap, and start spraying, and see what results they can get without having to do any magic tricks or jump through hoops set on fire in a circus.
@ryanl8653
@ryanl8653 3 жыл бұрын
@@PanTheOrganizer I get it! People should play with the dilutions to find what works best for them, and their equipment. You started with 27 Oz. of product in each cannon.... But how much water passed through the cannon to consume that 27 Oz? The dilution that is in the bottle is really irrelevant, it is what comes out of the cannon that matters? Static dilution is what's IN the cannon bottle, Dynamic dilution is what's actually being sprayed on the car, as you are adding additional water with the pressure washer. Not a big deal, just splitting hairs, really?!?!? It would be interesting to compare the various actual "max foam" dilution across different brands. 2 cannons may produce the same amount of foam, but if one may be doing it at a more diluted dynamic ratio?

Thanks Larry! I used the stock orifices that come pre-installed on all my foam cannons. With the Griot's Garage foam cannon, it comes with the 1.1mm orifice installed (you also get 1.25mm in the box). They say that "Your Brilliant FinishTM Foam Cannon comes factory equipped with a 1.1 Metering Jet which will deliver optimal performance for most electric pressure washers with a minimum of 1540 CU (Cleaning Units = gpm x psi). For most gas-powered pressure washers or units exceeding 4000 CU (Cleaning Units = gpm x psi), the included 1.25mm Jet must be installed." So in my case, my Kranzle 1122TST pressure washer has a 2.1gpm output and I run it at 1000 psi, so 2.1 x 1000 = 2100 CU which means I keep the 1.1mm orifice.

Not sure they sell it anymore. It said “POWER FIT” on the side. I thought I saw it in their store recently but I just looked online and didn’t see it. I definitely saw another foam cannon at walmart though…it was fairly cheap too. I’ll be honest, I think almost ALL modern and current foam cannons PROBABLY give pretty good foam, so long as you are mixing enough product, have high enough PSI on your pressure washer, using a good foaming product, etc. I don’t think you need to pay upwards of $40 for a good foam cannon. Also, it’s a matter of degree. Let’s say a $20 foam cannon gives a “foam score” of 90 out of 100. Then let’s say a $90 cannon gives a score of 95. Was that extra 5% of foam worth paying 4x as much? Probably not.

There are many factors that influence the quantity, thickness and richness of snow foam: 1. Type of foam cannon (smaller orifices lead to thicker foam, but can potentially trip your circuit breaker depending on your setup) 2. Type of pressure washer (a higher amount of GPM water output leads to more foam, so a pressure washer with 1.3 GPM will produce less foam than one that pumps out 2.1 GPM) 3. Type of snow foam (not all snow foams produce the same amount of foam) 4. Dilution ratio of snow foam (adjust the dilution according to your setup. Pan… another well planned and time consuming demo you have provided for us. Your efforts do not go unrecognized. I have been using the MTM PF22.2 for a while now and been very pleased with the foam consistency through my DI water system. However, you picked up on my biggest complaint and that is having to use a funnel due to the narrow neck. I completely agree with your selected winner from the value proposition, having the wider mouth and weighted ball. Lastly, I was not aware of Chemical Guys new canon and it would be ideal for my large truck. Though Chemical Guys covers a larger surface area if I choose to widen the stream, I’m thinking it would also burn through the snow foam at a much quicker rate negating the benefits of using it. It seems I could use the Griot’s Garage canon having to make an extra pass or two equaling out the amount snow foam solution used through the Chemical Guys. Would you agree with that assessment or just curious on your thoughts since you tested it? I will be purchasing the Griot’s Garage for certain. Thanks again Pan!
