looks great make sure you have holes in the bottom of the pots in the background, so the water can drain and not rot the roots.

You did an awesome bioactive tank there for your chameleon, I hope to see one with a waterfall and streams rockies cliff and all that plants surrounded it
@thirdeyereptiles1772 Жыл бұрын
You’d think it’d be beneficial to have moving water like a waterfall in a chams enclosure, the reason why people who are doing cage builds don’t include them is because of bacteria that can end up in the water from the bugs/Cham poop. Just a heads up to avoid water bowls & waterfalls if you have a Cham 🫶🏼

Where does the water go after it passes through the filters?
@JonsRainforestRoom3 жыл бұрын
It sits in the bottom. If it gets to full I syphon it out but it doesn't fill up much if I'm honest as there is such a deep layer of substrate in there 👍
@fgb31267 ай бұрын
Have you ever found that you've over-planted? Also, I notice you are relying heavily on bromeliads (the tank-type soft leaves). These will bloom and then die. They may send out offsets to replace the dead mother plant, but that will take some time. Meanwhile you now have "holes" in the design.
@loon3y6673 жыл бұрын

Love the content brother, I have a question for you. My plants are suffering from low light. I have a veil chameleon using T5 lighting, 10.0 uvb. What kind of light are you using? What would you recommend that would accommodate both the plants and chameleon? I have been told if I add light it might be too much for the chameleon to handle. What do you think?
@JonsRainforestRoom3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply mate. Glad your enjoying the videos. I would look at Arcadia Jungle Dawn lights. They are great for plants and won't harm your chameleon. You will still need UV lighting for you chameleon though. Hope this helps 👍

Hi there can I ask why you used tank media rather than clay balls as I thought whole point of the clay balls was they absorb excess water, Where as the water will pass straight through the media as its designed to hold beneficial bacteria only ?? Cheers

How many tubes of silicone did this take? I plan to do something very similar but more geared towards Leopard Geckos. Do you think the foam is strong enough to hold slate pieces in place?

Great series of vids pal! Tell everyone to subscribe, you’re doing an amazing job. One question, with the drainage layer, is there a way you can tell if it starts flooding? Without glass sides this is something I’m up against in some builds.
@JonsRainforestRoom4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tim I'm glad you liked it. Would you want a series for the next one or one vid? I've never really had the traditional drainage layer in most of mine except Castros. I've always used a false bottom. In this one I wouldnt imagine there would be too much but I'll run my hand down the side every now and again to check 👍. What setup are you having problems with mate?
@timreptile4 жыл бұрын
I reckon both pal, if you can. I really enjoy getting a vid or two a week to watch, but if someone is looking to see a build I guess they want to see it all in one vid? The FBT enclosure, I made the land mass out of acrylic, but made drainage holes in the side so if drainage layer floods it’ll go into the water below (think I massively over complicated things on that build, but wanted to try stuff out). Now doing the rough green snake enclosure in an exo, I was thinking of using a glass divider to separate land and water, but cheaper if I use an under bed plastic storage box for land mass, but won’t be able to see drainage layer. FBT enclosure for my mate is at the removing top layer of touch n foam 😢. Luckily my missus quite likes doing it!
@JonsRainforestRoom4 жыл бұрын
Its all a learning curve, there's always something you could have done better but makes the next build that much better 👍. I wish my Mrs would pick foam for me 😆. Cant wait to see the green snake setup!

@@JonsRainforestRoom I just took a look they have some nice deisgns, maybe I'll get one if I have enough money left after I set up my next tanks. Sounds good and will be something a bit diffirent to your other tanks. Looking forwad to that one! You're going betta let's face it 😆. I'm quickly going off bettas. They break your heart. I went in my room on Monday and found Steve on the lid of his tank. He was still alive, just. He didn't look good all day Monday and Tuesday. I was surprised that he was still with us. Looked better yesterday but not looking great again today. I have such bad luck with bettas lately. I just can't understand how he fitted through the tiny feeding hole

@@JonsRainforestRoom Oh no 😮. Don't let a few bad experiences put you off them, they are great fish. They feel like more of a pet to me than most other fish. I hope Steve recovers. 😊 I don't know if you saw but I bought a new betta recently. Uploaded a video yesterday if you want to take look. 😁

@@JonsRainforestRoom Ive also thought about beeding bettas. I'm not sure yet. It would be a fun to raise the babies and because Im not at university this year so I'd have the time to look after the spawn. But then what would I do with lots of bettas? 😂

It’s beautiful but more suitable for smaller lizards than chameleon That sides and background took a lot of space And is a bit to dark inside chameleons love brighter environment But what you are like it it’s fine everyone is different
@JonsRainforestRoom4 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching. The space is deceptive as the sides are surprisingly thin and have tried to add more climbing space by using a background, cork brancges etc. I havnt added the lighting on there yet it is just a camera light. I have a arcadia LED bar as well as UVB so it should be a lot brighter than in the video. I thought it looked moody for the video 😆. Good to hear your feedback mate, much appreciated 👍

This is far far away from the natural and propper terrarium for chameleon. Better get a madagascar geckos for it.
