Just came across your video. Great presentation. I use a leather hood over the helmet to aid with viewing the weld. Thank you for sharing the journey.

Awesome! The compared tank from a Matchless was as you pointed out “complicated”, however it seemed to be by a collection of flat or one way curves which would, I am convinced, be of little consequence to your absolute mastery of fashioning. How I marvel at the welding on such economic rims. Happy new year sir👍👏👌

No need to ask how you spent your time as the old year yielded to the new. A good start to 2024! Best wishes!

Happy New Year, Sir, with much fair-weather riding! Incredible craftsmanship. I wonder if the small manufacturers, such as; Sun, Norman, Excelsior,Greeves etc. made their own tanks, or were they farmed out to specialists?

I enjoy your riding videos, and your dry humour, but I enjoy your work on the bikes even more, as in this video, you have a very well equipped workshop, and the skills to go with it. Did you fabricate, or buy, your bead roller ?

Would you like to teach me to build a Honda CL450 K6 petrol tank? I dont have access to the English wheel or TIG welder like you have, but I do have the same problems, rust, and pinprick holes in the tank. Then, I also need to repair a Honda CL200 tank, an Suzuki A50P tank, and a Honda CB500/4 tank. All with similar problems. I don't think I'm the only one out there with these tank rust problems either! Your workshop is fully equipped and I welcome your instructional videos. Thank you.

Sir may i ask one question if you don't mind? why do you prefer "Panther" although there are some other brands like BSA, Triumph and some others?
@jonathanjones97905 ай бұрын
I am frequently seen riding Norton, BSA, Royal Enfield and Ariel Rainbowmat, but here we concentrate on motorcycles appropriate to the Panther channel.

Jonathan, why did you use a tank sealer (POR15)? Is it to allow the use of E5/E10?
@PantherOwnersClub16 ай бұрын
Ethanol, now in most commercial fuel, is hygroscopic; that is it attracts water from the air. An unprotected steel tank, especially one on an old bike in intermittent use, will be at risk from internal rusting. Even if it doesn't perforate, the rust can clog filters and carburettor jets and the sealer is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

I can attest to this! My old Matchless fuel tank was rusting and particles would regularly block the fuel system at line, filter or carb depending on the size. Since lining the tank no problems at all. Marvellous video Jonathan and can I interview to be your apprentice 😊

Sounds like a wise move to seal the tank. Up to now I have been fortunate in only using ethanol free fuel. I’m aware that this is now more difficult to source, so may have to think about sealing, although I am aware of an ethanol-free fuel that is available in containers, although extremely expensive.
