We can't fire any sort of round through this gun (or any of our others) because the breech ring has been torched apart to meet U.S. specs for importation and then tacked back together to look original. There is also a 75mm hole torched in the high pressure area of the gun tube. The sliding block is also fake and missing all the firing pin features. Sorry for the disappointment....

Hi im just asking a question how does a tank turret hold a big barrel and yes i know why there are spring its purpose is shock absorption right or i am wrong?
@Spitzturm31
@Spitzturm31 3 жыл бұрын
@@yellowsaturn2873 Hello, in the turret front, the barrel with the cannon cover is supported with strong pegs without play to enable the barrel to be raised. The recoil is actually absorbed by springs and recoil brakes. The brakes absorb most of the energy and work on the same principle as a shock absorber in a car. The spring or springs are primarily used to pull the cannon forward again into the firing position.

How this semi automatic acyion works The gears contract the spring towards the breech by pulling the rack. Imagine that instead of the force being applied through the handle, gears, and rack to contract the spring, there is instead horizontal force is being applied directly to the rack to compress the spring. That is exactly what part L does. First to clarify, the hook and acting cam surface (part M) is part of the gun cradle and is not attached to the barrel or breech. Part L will be rotate clockwise after it impacts part M when the gun recoils. The round top section of part L will then push down on the angled wedge surface that is connected to the rack (part F), causing the rack to be pushed towards the breech, compressing the spring (part G) and also rotating the pinion gear (part E). Part N is a spring loaded plunger that prevents part L from moving freely while the gun recoils and resets (it indexes in that small crescent cut to the right of the label pointer). Part L will stay rotated almost horizontal until the ejector arms are tripped and the spring pushes the rack forward again, causing the angled wedge surface attached to the rack to push the round surface of part L and rotate it clockwise back into its original vertical position. The ejector arms is what allows the breech to close. Once the breech is open, it will not and cannot close until those arms are tripped. Pay attention to the little red flag like piece (part H in the drawing) as the breech is being opened at 0:32 - 0:33. As the breech is fully opened we see that little flag like piece pivot slightly. This is because it is connected to the ejector arms. This is a secondary way to allow the breech to close. Primary one being the rim of the shell casing being used to trip the arms www.panther1944.de/Bilder/Panther/vorschriften/char_panther/Zeichnung-5.jpg In the below picture you can see part L and M d6a2z3m5.stackpathcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/panther-breech.jpg

In the olden days it was done mostly with turret exhaust fans, a bit later on the bore evacuator was developed, this is a canister placed on the exterior of the gun tube that contains the gasses from the shot fired, then as the shot passes the tube vents (that lead into the evacuator) the vacuum created as the shot leaves the bore, allows the gasses to vent from the muzzle. This system precedes the evacuator, and does help to keep the smoke to a minimum. Its like tear gas, very unpleasant stuff

For importation the beck end of the breech has to completely severed with a cutting torch. There are people that have the permits required to own guns of this size, but to the best of my knowledge if it is imported into the U.S. no matter how historic or rare, it has to be cut before importation. There's no exceptions for rarity... In the U.K for example I think it's possible to own a complete un-cut breech ring, but in the U.S. it requires a special permit.

When being fired the breech the rim of the shell case trips the extractors and the breech block locks, when fired the sight adjustment from 600 yards to 1,200 yards is only 3/10 of a Mile. or less than 1/8 of a inch. And yes the Panther runs, but sadly the owner Mr Littelfield died shortly after driving without the turret in early 2009.

As long as the gun is legally able to be papered its not a terribly difficult matter to register it, and keep it live. more likely the trouble is that though the gun may be complete, it may not be in serviceable condition, so it would not be possible to fire anything more than pyrotechnics with it, which one can do with a de-milled gun.

@a.t6066
@a.t6066 4 жыл бұрын
Yes. It probably works the same way any other semi automatic artillery gun works. Check out the zis2 or zis3 ww2 Russian guns. There is a knob/cam on the bottom on the lever that gets hit by a flat piece of steel when the gun is pulled back by the hydraulics (the steel piece is spring loaded to move out of the way when the gun recoils). Think that this operates in similar concept but designed in a more elegant and refined way

Can someone explain to me how a tank gun's sliding breech works? I never understood why the breech automatically closes. Where does the force that automatically causes the breech to close come from? @@fauzaanachmadillah4670 yes the breech is locked open by extractor arms. I know that. What I'm wondering is what is forcing the breech closed.
@a.t6066
@a.t6066 5 жыл бұрын
@@fauzaanachmadillah4670 take horizontally sliding breech artillery vs vertical sliding breech artillery. For the most part with a horizontal sliding breech, the loader slides the breech block back into place manually. But a vertically sliding breech this isn't possible to do since the breech block is too heavy to lift manually. So someone invented a mechanism to automatically force to breech block back up after its been opened. I'm wondering what that mechanism is and how it works
@Filmpilot
@Filmpilot 5 жыл бұрын
E. P The tank rounds have a lip on the case to catch the trip levers on either side of the breech, actuating the trip mechanism. You can see them on either side of the breech block from the top view. Loaders were using gloves and the term “ram it home” came from that. A closed fist works best so it can’t catch fingers on the upstroke.
@a.t6066
@a.t6066 5 жыл бұрын
@@Filmpilot But why does the breech block move up? Is there a compressed spring or a hydraulic cylinder that causes the breech block to move back up? It has to overcome gravity to move up again. I understand the extractor arms hold the breech open and get tripped by the rimmed case being inserted. But why does the breech block move up in the first place? If you drop a box it doesn't automatically put itself back in your hands

A tank gun is perfectly legal to own and fire, it's just that most owners of these kinds of guns fire solid rounds instead of the normal explosive rounds because they would have to register and pay the fees for explosive rounds. So, explosive rounds aside, there's nothing particularly illegal about owning cannons of any sort in the US.

@thehairbarebunch1 3 жыл бұрын
E.P, excellent video. An important point on manually moving the lever. It had to be manually actuated only once before the first round was fired. Thereafter, the slide would drop after each round was fired, eject the empty case and remain open until the loader chambered the next round. Once this round was inserted the slide would then automatically close ready for firing.

Im nothing short of ASTONISHED regarding initial need to> concept, >design, >prototyping, >full production to >manufacturing runs & testing concerning the LIGHTNING SPEED development of the various PanzerWaffe vehicles under severe & very constrained conditions.... ~All accomplished under the INCREDIBLE pressures of total war on MANY fronts...... -Let us not forget Germany is about the size of Washington & Oregon state combined! AND the fact that EVERY single forged/cast/stamped & milled steel component/ part/screw/fastener/tiny light bulb, ect X'[s 10,000 was made primarily in Germany/CZ SKODA Werks/occupied territories... Too say nothing of the TOOLING needed/created/invented in order to make a singular part?! -(Albeit often using forced labor-WORKING hands are bar-none, far better & effective than DEAD ones)- There prob isnt one single example of a U.S made piece of military gear &/or front line combat vehicle where EVERY SINGLE component of the weapons system is made within the U.S proper. IE: simple screws/fasteners/microchips/components, primarily being made outside the U.S, primarily in Asia!? Sun-Tzu would be laughing n' rolling over in his grave considering the ridiculously ex$pensive, massive & complicated supply chain concerning the literal outsourcing the United States defense needs! -ALL of it MUST be made & raw materials sourced within the nations BORDERS to be 100% effective & properly back-stopped-(With several redundant fail-safes & "Plan-B's" employed)- Example as to the U.S's common power grid needs: We have ZERO domestic, large electrical transformer production facilities here anymore?!.... -Ummmmm?...Hmmm? Kindve an IMPORTANT item now arent they?...;) -They are all made in CHINA & then imported to our shores!....-Sheeesh! The list goes on n' on n' on unfortunately! GREAT video! Thank you! so much! REALLY helps with getting eyes on the real thing, understanding/modifying/scratch building components of 1/35th scale Panther tank interiors when shown torn down under repairs in PanzerWerkStatCompany dioramas...;)
