I bought a pantum printer model no. - P2518 in 20 may 2023. Within one and a half years, the toner of the printer has been totally damaged during the 250 to 300 prints.Talked to customer care and told him that your warranty has expired within one and a half years. Since nothing can be done now, I have taken a new toner. Which is highly costly. The price of the printer is 9000 rupees. The price of the new toner is 2300 rupees. I have been using another HP printer for quite some time now with no such problem. I have a humble request to you, take a printer from another company rather than this company.

Printers used to be monopolized by Japan and USA and due to their early start on the printing tech fundamentals (extremely hard to bypass these with alternatives for other new players), they set up existing patent barriers in ink and laser printing technologies, which prevented new players from coming into the game. South Korea's Samsung tried to develop its printer technologies and they made some progresses but eventually they sold their printer business to the US's HP because they couldn't fully break the existing technological barriers erected by the Japanese and American brands. China joined the game in the 2010s with the rise of Pantum which was originally a printer-consumables contract manufacturer in the 1990s and 2000s but later they developed their independent laser printing technologies, breaking the monopoly of Japanese and American brands. Later, Pantum's parent company acquired the US printer giant Lexmark in 2016 (which was before the US trade war and tech war with China since 2018) and therefore was granted the ownership of all tech patents held by Lexmark, which further boosted Pantum's tech portofolios in printers. Pantum expanded its business very rapidly in both China and the overseas, it captured over 90% of Russian market in 2024 after the western and Japanese printer brands left the country as a part of their joint sanctions for the Russo-Ukraine War.
