the armored combat in this movie is probably the best i've ever seen in a movie. No big explosions, no unrealistic driving. When a round hits, there's sparking from the penetration and then the tank stops moving, it doesn't explode into a big fireball unless the ammunition has been hit.

What’s more, everything in this clip is a 100% verified historical event. On June 15th, 1944, Finnish StuG III Ps.531-19 “Marjatta” commanded by Lieutenant Sartio and gunner Lance Corporal Lagus knocked out 4 t-34s. Everyone in this clip is a real person and the tanks are the actual tanks that they fought in, not just mock-ups or other repainted StuGs. The StuG that was destroyed at the end of the clip was Ps.531-29 commanded by Captain Kvikant and was destroyed by a hit likely from an enemy tank. The StuG they described as being hit before that was Ps.531-1 “Aune” and was taken out by an anti-tank gun.

I love how the Russian shells weren't nerfed. Like the shell actually penetrated the StugIII and killed one of the crew by blasting through the turret compartment or possibly through the glass which killed him. Also the way the crew evacuated the tank was very realistic compared to all the real videos there are online of this happening irl.
@ArcticWolf00Alpha0
@ArcticWolf00Alpha0 2 жыл бұрын
Because the Stug IIIs gun was jammed the crew decided to take it into battle anyway, with the gun stuck in the upwards position it meant that the crew had to drive the vehicle downwards so the gun could aim at its target, unfortunately, this also left their hull roof vulnerable which caused the shell to penetrate the commander's copula and kill him.

Nothing to sniff at, most countries had those. Rapid-response forces, like when the Wehrmacht came to Denmark or Holland. Denmark even had motorbikes towing 20mm autocannons, hence the strangely high amount (15 pieces of armor) of German vehicle losses, and an estimated 203 dead. Still lost, of course, but never underestimate bikes.

Finnish army was probably the best army fighting during WWII.They have not many men,have not a lot of weapons,their weapons were by the beginning of war too old and as you can see in this movie,they have not united parts of uniforms.For example they used 6-7 maybe more types of helmets - Czechoslovakian M32,German M35 or M42,French,Swedish M37,Hungarian M38,Italian M33,Russian M39 or M40,their own Finnish type... That same with weapons-tanks,fighters,carabines,machne guns... They sometimes looked more like partissans more than army,but their effects in the battles were really heroic and admirable...

@@pedroarthur919 Poor acting, poor reenactment of real battle tactics. One has to give Finns some slack due to low budget of this movie, and of course it's more realistic than war movies Hollywood vomits out or complete ridiculousness of modern Russian war movies... @JohnnysWarStories

Well this did actually happen but the Fins could possibly have been better reinforced and had they controlled lake Ladoga I'd wager the siege would have been more successful. Though I'd say taking the city at the end of the seige would have been of little significance as it would have been mostly rubble at this point. Though a useful port maybe. Interesting question.
