We are currently visiting Normandy again (last time 6 years ago): Your list is still great imo. Azeville is still great, but Merville has really improved imo: the C47 you can get in and new displays make it so much better, so I would put it in there for my list: particularly for brits, canadians, dutch, belgian folks etc!

Thanks for the cracking video Panzer...We visited for 8 days last year using Sainte Mere Eglise as a home base and as you have mentioned, everyone will have their own favorite for this or that reason (we had the same number 1 museum though.). We split the days into beach sectors and after researching each sector we then had more or less a route planned out for each day. This helped get as much seen as possible. We found it best doing a museum and then live locations rather than pounding 1 museum after another (after a while they all look the same). After researching What was in the area we even got to see Mont saint Michel and the bayeux tapestry.

You're welcome and indeed everybody has it's own favorite, and I have been to Mont St Michel and it's busy but amazing, I hope you didn't forget the time and found your car in few feed of water 😂 😂

I'm in the process of planning a Normandy trip and this is very useful. If you revisit this type of video in future, would you be able to list how long each museum would take to tour (obviously it's a rough guess)?

back in 2011 when i was visiting normandy at 14 years of age with my dad we visited dead man's corner museum and the merville battery (wich has an amazing sound and lightshow) , i also insisted on visiting the quinéville museum as i saw on the advertisement flyers that they like recreated a paved road with buildings and where you could see some dioramas inside the different houses that was also an amazing way for diorama's in my opinion if i would make a top 10 these 3 would have surely been featured i'm planning to return to normandy on 25th of april 2022 and stay for 5 days i hope i'll have enough time to visit my list of museums and places that i already wrote down thank you for making this video i have catched on and wrote down 2 museums from your list in wich i'm intrested in

Couldn't agree more with the Airborne Museam and its location is brilliant with alot of history. I personally enjoyed Maisy battery it felt untouched and not ruined like some spots in Normandy. Point Du Hoc im honest opinion is a bit ruined with what the metal walkways on the bunkers and doesn't even mention the 5th Ranger battalion fought there with a few stray Airborne. Theys a few museams i missed out Azeville, Dead mans corner and a few others. Overall great list if i go back again ill vist the ones i missed but so many museams feel the same in Normandy at times. P.S Also theres a memorial spot of at the Le Carrefour crossroad for a battle which took place on the night of the 9th-10th June and saw 2nd Battalion 115th take 161 casualties against lost elements of the 352. Infanterie Division with two marders. The germans had ran into the Americans in the night and almost overun them but alot the them managed to flee however the CO was Lt.col Warfield was found dead by Major General Gerhardt at a fence hanging with his 1911 still in his hands. I couldnt believe the same fence is still there. Photo just west of the memorial photos.app.goo.gl/QV6oQ2wAoGr4LGQU8 Website with info on engagement www.dday-overlord.com/en/battle-of-normandy/cities/carrefour-des-vignes-aux-gendres

The Airborne museum is on a really great condition, I liked the Maisy Battery to, but now it was dirty and overgrown. Point du hoc is totally ruined with all the metal like you saids and also the annoying gaurds everywhere.

I can also recomand the memorial of falaise. The main topic of this museum is the civilians during the battle of normandy

and it's just next to the castle of falaise where William the conqueror was born (realy cool to visit too even if it's ot related to WW2 this time)

The D-Day Experience was one of the worst museum I have ever been to, really overpriced and you have to go true a awful show to see the rest of the not so great museum.

9:02 really? Wouldn’t the museum get more money selling the wreck to a collector than disposing of it, I mean when did they get rid of it?

I saw it a few times before it was dumped and there wasn't much left and it was more rust, paint and a engine. .

Interesting topic and video. I think you are Dutch, right ? Don't take this the wrong way, but your accent is special... I hear : MACHINE instead of MUSEUM for example. Many museum missing, like Normandy Victory Museum - Musée de la bataille des haies, Parc d’Activités, La Fourchette, 50500 with a nice collection of ww2 vehicles and uniforms, they are all authentic there, not really the case in some of the other museum you mention...

Gotta be honest, I hated the Omaha beach museum - mainly due to their very poor restorations and displays. Almost all of their American equipment were in the wrong colours. This was the case with alot of the german equipment as well.
@PanzerPicture3 жыл бұрын
Which Museum do you mean the D-day or Memorial museum?
@srenfogh593 жыл бұрын
It was the Memorial Museum - but at least they haven't neglected their outside collection as the Museum of the Breton Resistance has.
