Thanks! I have the benefit of having no M.O. as well as not having any clue as to what I’m doing. 😂

suhr is top of the game. the ibanez sounded like it could use some new pickups. Great review.

Gosh, they're all wonderful sounding instruments. But I think I have to say that the upper bottom and is just so unique on all of them. It's just whatever flavor you want on the day they're all great.

What a bunch of great guitars, they all seemed to have their magic attributes. But I'll tell you what that paoletti has its own weird thing. And when it gets destrorted wow.

Weird, and useful! Not one of those weird for the sake of being weird things. Love it!

Great demo and really nice to hear "Finding My Way"! From the demo, here's what I heard: The neck pickup in the Paoletti is so smooth, and then the tones got slightly brighter in the Suhr and slightly brighter still in the Ibanez. The bridge comparison was interesting: the Paoletti was very balanced, the Suhr had great low-mids, and the Ibanez was thin and underpowered. Now, I have an AZ2204 with the Fortuna pickups and a Partscaster Strat spec'd pretty close to the Suhr Classic (Gotoh 510 bridge, Suhr Thornbucker+, Suhr V60LPs). Running into various patches in my Fractal FM3, I get very similar results as you. In my rig, the Ibanez is really bright and the bridge humbucker is equally disappointing. My Partscaster with the Suhr pickups is really balanced and smooth, real similar to the Paoletti in your video. The result? I think the Ibanez is a great guitar for the money but I think it's weakest link is the pickups (mostly the bridge humbucker). If you can get creative with EQ, it would work great out of the box for most people and you wouldn't miss a Suhr, Paoletti, Anderson, Grosh, etc. The ergonomics and aesthetics of the Ibanez are as good as it gets. However, once you get a taste of the "booteek" domain and start really focusing on tone, I think many AZ2204 owners will sell them to help finance a Suhr (or whatever floats your boat). Personally, I don't miss the expensive brands because I can build my own Partscasters to my specs and use whatever pickups I want. As for my AZ, I'll try a new set of pickups and see if I can get better results.

To my ears the Suhr Classic sounded the best, the Ibby and the Paoletti were close but i think i prefer the Ibanez.

I have a thing for Suhr as a company. I liked both of the other two but to my ears, and DEFINITELY my hands, they do extremely different things.

Very interesting comparison! I’ve been going between the Suhr, Ibanez, and Tyler. Honestly eyes closed the Suhr is the “thinnest” sounding but not in a bad way. For the price, I feel like an Ibanez and then modding it with Suhr pickups will get you the exact tone but still save you over $1k give or take. Only thing I didn’t like was the darkness of the humbucker on the Ibanez. Great video!

Thanks! I think the big elephant in the room is that the tones online only tell half of the story. All of these guitars feel remarkably different and resonate in totally different ways. I could absolute see a tom of people taking that same mod-route in this case, though!

All three had their own elements, i overall ended up preferring Suhr, but if given the chance would get the AZ and maybe put better pickups in there instead

After purchasing a Mateus Suhr I never looked back. Flawless quality, comfortable neck, amazing resonance, perfect setup - not too light or too firm. Worth the price if your looking for a tour/studio work horse.
