He is quite the helper and always ready to get his hands dirty. And as far as I know, no, that is the only intended purpose of the tool. However, once you understand the concept of what this tool is doing, many different ideas of how to make the bricks / logs will come to mind. The best part is that we / people are reusing material that would normally be tossed out and would make its way into local landfills, and that's awesome!

Thanks guys I always trust a man in a good t-shirt.. It will take a bit longer a couple of days to dry on this side of the pond I guess but I am getting started this afternoon following your instruction.

If you put your press in a mortar mixing pan, you could recover and re-use the water in your next batch. IDK about where you live, but all over the world, drinkable water is becoming harder to come by, and costing more when it is available. Just something to think about. Nice video, and nice to see a dad including his kid in a project.

Cool video. I would suggest pressing the bricks over something to catch the water so you can reuse it. Just a thought.

The kids and I made some today but instead of buying sawdust we swept up the wood dust and chips off the floor of our wood shed. The instruction sheet with our brick maker says to used dish washing liquid or washing powder in the pulp to make it go soggy quicker and it seemed to work. We didn't have anything electric to mix it with so the kids just gave it a good stir with a pasta scoop spoon which did a good job but took a bit longer. Looking forward to throwing our hard work on the fire!

Yeah, I started thinking of ways to make an improvised press after watching your video, but the one you used just seems extremely convenient and the size of the bricks seems like it'd be ideal. I've already used some newsprint and certain paper scraps for composting and vermiculture, so having another valuable use for recycled material is great. Anyway, again, great vid. I look forward to your next.

Cool video. It's cool to see your son eager to help out. Quick question though; is that press you used specifically made for making paper bricks or is there another more common use that'd be easier to search with.

Jonny Buzzkill I got one today.I made same mistake as you.I squeezed all the gunky water out on the path.Before long I'm paddling in water! Found an old rectangular plastic basin.It fits nicely under the machine and collects all that water.Can then be thrown into the plants.

Some great suggestions here. Yall are thinking outside of the box to be sure. I would add just a touch of potassium nitrate to the slurry, then, press and let dry in the sun for a week or two. If pressed into much smaller, thinner sticks, it makes an excellent fire starter stick and you don't have to use but one or two to get a big fire started. Potassium nitrate is commonly known as Saltpeter and can be purchased at almost any pharmacy. Just a thought. You might have to experiment around with the concentration, but, I find that a little will usually go a long way.

Hi JonnyBuzzkill, like your video showing the complete process. I just noticed you keep on interrupting jou Junior partner's efforts and completing it for him. I'm sure if you ask him to fill the bucket to the bring with mash he will understand and do that... nothing serious, I just thought when I saw the beginning of the video that your son/partner is going to be the actor and you the director ;) Cheers!

some ink might come off, but on most printed document it is not the case. You can try to submerge documents in water and see.

What's the dry time for you? I just ordered the same one today. Got on amazon for $30 with free shipping. Almost bought the 4 in 1 press, but a lot of reviews say its pretty hard to press. That single looked easy when you did it. I was using a caulking gun with hole drilled pvc pipe.. Really time consuming and hard to get paper logs out the tube without breaking in half. I am still on trial and error with sawdust/paper mix, but I found using about one sunday paper and a loosely filled one gallon bucket of sawdust works well. Local lumber mill let me fill a 42 gallon contractor bag for free.

Dry time usually takes a week in the sun.
@SouthTexasPrepper9 жыл бұрын
***** The best time to do this is during the summer months. Place the shredded paper in a pail or plastic container for a week. One can add sawdust (or dry leaves) to help bind the paper better and is also good for getting rid of some leaves in the yard. You don't have to drill holes into the "brick(s)." Just set the "brick(s)" out in the Sun and have the Sun do the work for you, flipping the "brick(s)" over once every day to thoroughly dry out the "brick(s)." Some people will place the "brick(s)" in greenhouses to help expedite the process, which isn't such a bad idea. Everyone has their way of doing things that suits them.

An interesting belief that has sprung up due to a study on sawmill workers and hobbyists. The study found that sawmill workers were at risk, and hobbyists not, due mainly to the differing levels of exposure. Think about it and I'm sure you'll understand why.

Papermasher™ bags are specially designed and used to safely dispose your confidential documents without the time consuming effort it takes to use a shredder machine. Simply fill the bags with your documents and place them in your washing machine. The paper will be mashed to a pulp and become unreadable. Remove and dispose the mashed paper and reuse the bags.

let the paper in the bucket for 2 days then use the mixer and you will have better results and no need for the sawdust

Hi, I was wondering where you get your sawdust? We don't have any mills around where I live. Thanks, Leah
@keithstone921410 жыл бұрын
I would think maybe waste sawdust from miscellaneous woodworking projects. You would put a bucket of something underneath where you're working or hook a shopvac to the power tool (ie belt sander, bandsaw, etc) and collect the saw dust that way. But you wouldn't neccessarily need the sawdust; I think it's just a special touch JonnyBuzzkill added.

Just to be clear, burning the waste paper is not recycling. During recycling, the paper will become another paper product. Burning all the ink, fibre reinforcers, glues, coatings in that brick is not environmentally friendly. But it's a cool vid nonetheless.
